[0:00] [Music] [0:08] hi everyone my name is Officer Hagpur [0:10] and I am a police officer at the city of [0:11] Lakeville and I'm here today to speak to [0:13] you about different scams that are going [0:14] on in our community just a couple of [0:16] different things to look at online when [0:18] you're trying to be safe on the internet [0:20] look out for anyone that's trying to [0:21] access your personal information wants [0:23] you to send money especially over [0:25] different cryptocurrency companies post [0:28] office and gift cards a couple of the [0:30] most common scams that are going around [0:32] right now is the grandkid family scams [0:34] different internet criteria that's [0:36] trying to target people during online [0:37] dating or online marketplace or selling [0:40] different things online identity theft [0:42] is a big thing that's going on right now [0:44] especially during tax season and [0:45] different people that are impersonating [0:47] themselves to be part of the IRS [0:49] especially to access your different [0:50] personal information some of the things [0:52] to avoid a scam is just be aware of who [0:54] you're giving your information to who [0:55] you're giving out checking and debit [0:57] card information to social security [0:59] number and your address or any other [1:00] personal information that they don't [1:02] need access to a couple of different [1:04] things that you can do if you are the [1:05] victim of a scam is to report it to the [1:07] police department make sure that you [1:08] call your credit card companies or your [1:10] bank company and if they had access to [1:12] your social security number make sure [1:14] that you're reporting that to some of [1:15] the different bureaus so that they can [1:16] put a flag on your information if you're [1:18] interested in any other resources that [1:20] are available to you feel free to come [1:21] into the police department and pick up [1:23] different brochures and printouts [1:25] they're up at the front desk and if [1:26] you're interested in a presentation [1:28] available to you by the police [1:29] department for free of charge you can [1:31] come into the PD or send me an email and [1:34] I'll be happy to come out and speak with [1:35] you
