unselfishly when he could have spent time running the business that he owns. So, I think that's commendable and I would like to give Brett a round of applause, please. >> Would anyone else like to make a comment? Amber, >> I just want to echo the thanks. It's been great um getting to know you over these last um 11ish months. I feel like we develop a good collegial rapport and I really appreciate our conversations. I think you've pushed me to think differently and bigger and deeper on issues and hopefully likewise um back at you. And so um just want to thank you and it's been great working with you. And most importantly, um Brett would always bring little treats over here and he would graciously share them with me. And so to repay, I have some treats for you today. >> Very good. >> Thank you. >> You're welcome. >> Carly. >> Yeah, I will say um I agree. I want to uh certainly echo what Amber has shared in terms of [snorts] um how you have asked questions I think that are very strategic and made us think differently especially as we were establishing the board goals and metrics and things like that. And I think one thing that um I certainly have heard from multiple people that I don't think the broader community probably knows is how much time you put in on the phone and in the buildings connecting uh with our community when there were concerns. And so I think we get lots and lots of emails and I know you were someone to very consistently follow up and ask questions and um there's a lot of passion there that our community has benefited from. So um I didn't get your candy um but appreciate your commitment and hope that continues in terms of how you engage um and push the push the dial in that direction. So appreciate your time. >> Very good. Brian, I don't know if if Brett heard you when he came in. You might want to repeat what you said. >> No, I just want to just recognize and say I appreciate all the efforts that you put in. This is a a role that uh that that many folks don't get to see uh the amount of effort that that needs to be done behind the scenes and from reading the board packets to having uh conversations um uh doing individual research, having conversations with board members and so forth before we even get to the three or four hour board meetings that we sometimes have. And so, uh, but that that is, uh, it's it's a time commitment and and I appreciate you raising your hand and, uh, and being appointed, but also, uh, being in this capacity for the duration that you've been in. So, thank you. Thank you very much for from me and as well from the community. So, thanks, >> Kim. >> So, I want to thank Director Nicholson for his service. Um I I think it's difficult to campaign anyway, but to campaign two years in a row, uh that's that's a that's a tall order and it's it's a lot for a person to um the time commitment with that alone. Um not to mention the time that you already spent on the board and then um that time away from your family. I don't know if you have it in you for another campaign in the future, but um if you don't, like I I would encourage you to continue to be involved with the district and within the community on some of the advisory councils that we have um that you could definitely be a part of. I I think that um it's important to have continued involvement with our district and with those councils so that we have um multiple perspectives that are on there. Thank you. >> Very good. Thank you. And now, um, Superintendent Bowman would like to express our appreciation. Brett, uh, with a little token. >> Would you like to come up front? >> He's not. >> It's all right. You can stay right there. I'll >> think you're on. >> The mic is not on. >> Oh, >> you're on. You're on now. >> All right. Even better. Um, members of the board and uh, Mr. Nicholson, sir, thank you for your service. Um, I think if we take everybody's words together here, the word I would put to it is uh, personal sacrifice. That's two words. But the sacrifice um that that you give to all of us across Lakeville all the way down to Elco New Market and beyond. Um any board member who serves is serving their community. But what I'd like to say, Brett, if uh if you're okay, um nobody has exhibited more passion, more concern, and more depth, and then dove into the work like you have. And I do appreciate that. And on behalf of the administration here, I just want to acknowledge that and say thank you for all your hard work. um and all the things that you do for our community and that really applies to any board member. It's a tough environment to work in and uh to give of your time and your talent and you know quite frankly your treasure. Um it's it's part of the part of the process and it's it's appreciated and never forgotten and u you know I'd encourage you to consider a future uh of coming back but I understand u you have young kids and you have a business and um but your commitment to our school district and our community is is um exemplary and I thank you for it and um I want to just share we got you uh a little momentto uh of our appreciation and something you can put up on on your mantle of or as I like to call it your I love me wall. Um if you have one of those if you spend any time in the military you have those uh and then later on you decide h I don't want to look at that anymore. But uh I'll just say this. Um I'll read you the citation on here and I think it's apppropo. Um and it says Lakeville area schools by word and deed. Your presence has enriched the lives of students and served as an example for all to follow. Thank you for your service to the school board, to Lakeville area schools in your community. Brett Nicholson 2025. Thank you, sir. Enjoy [applause] that. [laughter] >> I don't. >> Very good. Thank you, Superintendent Bowman. Uh, moving on to recommended actions. Uh we have a recommended action for the resolution of canvasing returns of votes of the school district special election. Um >> motion to approve. >> A second. >> Okay, we have uh a motion to approve from Director Baker, a second from Director Anderson. Uh all in favor say I. I'm sorry. Is there any discussion? My apologies. I'm okay. If not, uh, all in favor say I. >> I. >> I. Opposed. Motion passes. >> Move to adjourn. >> Is there a second? Okay. All in favor say I. >> I. >> Opposed. Have a good night, folks.
