[0:07] hi I'm fire chief Mike Meer and today [0:08] we're going to talk about some of the [0:09] medical variances and skills that our [0:11] firefighters are learning uh to help you [0:13] out in our community if there's a [0:15] medical emergency uh whether that's in [0:17] your home or just out in the community [0:19] so the first uh item that we're adding [0:21] is what we call an easy iio so in event [0:24] of somebody of us responding to a [0:25] cardiac arrest uh this lets us provide [0:28] an IV line that we're going to uh [0:31] establish through the lower leg and [0:34] we're going to set up an IV line and [0:35] then we're going to provide some [0:36] medication uh to help hopefully restart [0:38] the heart as far as not just doing only [0:40] CPR AED and such but this is a [0:43] medication that normally uh the [0:45] paramedics would have with them but it's [0:46] something that we can do when the [0:48] ambulance is delayed getting to that [0:50] scene the other tool we're adding for [0:52] firefighters is a cardiac monitor so [0:55] similar to what you see the paramedics [0:56] bringing or what you may see in the [0:58] hospital ER as far as that we can [1:00] establish and look at your heart rhythm [1:02] using either a four lead or a 12 lead [1:04] system uh but the other tools that come [1:06] with this monitor are also a blood [1:08] pressure cuff uh SP2 monitor so we can [1:11] kind of see your oxygenation if you're [1:13] at 90% or greater how you're doing with [1:15] that and it also does uh carbon monoxide [1:18] so if there's a potential that you were [1:19] exposed to carbon monoxide we can see [1:22] what that percentage is as far as using [1:25] the monitor so as we continue to [1:27] progress through with our hiring of our [1:29] Hy bre Department of full-time and pay [1:31] on call we're always looking to what's [1:33] that next thing that we can do that next [1:35] step that we can provide a better [1:36] service to our community these are just [1:38] some of the things that we've added to [1:40] the fire department and our skill set to [1:42] provide that service to our community
