[0:08] today is Shop with a hero here at
[0:10] Lakeville Target and it is an
[0:12] opportunity for our local First
[0:14] Responders police and fire to shop with
[0:17] school children so that they can bring
[0:20] home gifts for their family for the
[0:21] Christmas season we've been doing this
[0:23] for a number of years and it's an event
[0:25] that police and fire that we look
[0:27] forward to it's something that we really
[0:28] enjoy doing so they come in with the
[0:30] list of like who they're shopping for
[0:31] family members and such uh but their
[0:34] name is always at the bottom of that
[0:35] list so as we go through and shop and
[0:37] you know pick out things for their
[0:39] family members we kind of got to remind
[0:41] them that this is also for them and then
[0:42] pick that and help them pick out
[0:44] whatever that gift is or they're like
[0:46] well I don't want to do that I want to
[0:48] buy something more for my mom or dad or
[0:50] or whomever that family member is so
[0:52] it's always a challenge to try to make
[0:53] sure that this is not just uh about
[0:56] their family but it's about them too so
[0:58] it's cool to see that that selflessness
[1:00] that they show that I'm here shopping
[1:02] for another person besides myself they
[1:04] don't want to talk much but as we go
[1:06] through the store and shop and they
[1:07] really open up and we start to kind of
[1:09] hear a little bit of their story and
[1:11] understand where they're from and and
[1:12] the same goes the other way is that
[1:13] we're telling them a little bit about us
[1:15] and we're like I said we're developing
[1:16] that relationship with them maybe just
[1:18] for this time that they're here tonight
[1:20] but hopefully it's something that's very
[1:22] impactful and it changes their life or
[1:24] provides them to maybe they want to
[1:26] become a police officer or a firefighter
[1:27] so it's something very cool that can
[1:29] happen uh during the small little time
[1:31] frame that we get for an interaction
[1:33] with them and it's amazing the number of
[1:36] businesses and individuals in this town
[1:38] who support these Endeavors it's just
[1:40] fantastic
