[0:00] school is back in session with that [0:02] comes the need to keep all drivers and [0:04] pedestrians safe while we cannot avoid [0:06] the traffic increases we can avoid [0:08] incidents that occur due to school [0:09] traffic the most common incidents [0:11] involving student pedestrians occur [0:13] outside of Mark crosswalks and [0:15] intersections one contributing factor is [0:17] student departures from school buses in [0:19] Minnesota school buses are equipped with [0:21] yellow and red flashing lights to [0:23] indicate to other drivers what the bus [0:25] is about to do flashing yellow lights [0:27] will be activated at least 100 ft before [0:30] the school bus stops in speed zones of [0:32] 35 mph or less and at least 300 ft [0:35] before it stops in a speed zone of more [0:38] than 35 mph it is against the law to [0:41] pass on the right side of school buses [0:42] while it is displaying red or yellow [0:44] flashing lights flashing red lights warn [0:47] the motorist that the school bus is [0:48] loading or unloading students when a bus [0:51] is stopped with it red lights flashing [0:53] and it stop or extended you must stop [0:56] your vehicle at least 20 ft from the [0:58] school bus oncoming tra and motorist [1:00] approaching the bus from behind may not [1:02] move until the stop arm is retracted and [1:05] the red light is no longer flashing this [1:07] illustration indicates when you need to [1:10] stop on a two-lane road vehicles [1:12] traveling in both directions must stop [1:14] on a multi-lane paved across Vehicles [1:17] traveling in both directions must stop [1:19] on a divided highway Vehicles behind the [1:22] bus must stop Vehicles traveling in the [1:24] opposite direction can proceed with [1:26] caution let's work together to ensure [1:28] that our roads remain safe [1:33] [Music]
