[0:10] The Big Spiel is like TCCA's biggest
[0:13] fundraiser. It's like kind of what they
[0:15] do to to fund the entire year and they
[0:18] fund programs from junior curling to um
[0:23] just regular curling instruction
[0:25] throughout the Twin Cities area. The big
[0:28] spiel is the largest bond spiel in the
[0:30] nation. We have 96 teams. They come from
[0:33] 29 states, 57 clubs. So, it is it is
[0:37] something that is very unique in the
[0:38] curling world. It brings a lot of
[0:40] exposure to our clubs from um the
[0:42] surrounding areas, the surrounding
[0:43] states. They're spending money at the at
[0:45] the restaurants, at the hotels.
[0:47] Minnesota is definitely known for, you
[0:49] know, being the the mecca of curling in
[0:51] the nation where this is the place where
[0:54] a lot of our Olympians are coming out of
[0:56] for Minnesota.
[0:57] >> I'm Moren Clark. I'm a 2006 Olympian. I
[1:00] was on the women's curling team in
[1:02] Torino, Italy. I started curling when I
[1:04] was six in my hometown in Wisconsin. Um,
[1:06] I grew up about three blocks from the
[1:08] curling club in my hometown. My whole
[1:10] family curled, so it was just sort of
[1:12] natural. I spent a lot of time at the
[1:14] curling club. I was lucky enough to be
[1:16] asked to curl with um two women from
[1:19] Minnesota actually, which is how I ended
[1:21] up in Minnesota. The community of people
[1:23] that you meet in curling is just really
[1:25] welcoming and they obviously all like
[1:27] something a little odd like you do. So,
[1:29] you find your people. Just come to a
[1:31] curling club. Curlers are pretty
[1:33] friendly people and anyone will answer
[1:35] your questions about what the sport is
[1:37] and how you can get into it. And a lot
[1:39] of the clubs in the Twin Cities area
[1:40] have learned to curls that are really
[1:42] accessible for anyone. If you'd like to
[1:44] get involved in curling, you would need
[1:46] to go to our twin
[1:46] citiescurlingassociation.org
[1:48] website. And if you click on clubs from
[1:51] that, it will bring you to six of our
[1:53] clubs. And if there's one in your area,
[1:55] I encourage you to contact them to sign
[1:57] up. Do a learn to curl, get into a
[1:59] league, or even curl in a curling bonds
[2:01] field.
[2:03] Stop.
