[0:00] [Music] [0:16] look having full-timers on duty sleeping [0:20] at the station within 50 yards from [0:23] their truck is massive it's pretty nice [0:25] to be able to be on site when we get [0:28] calls instead of responding from from [0:30] our house to the fire station now makes [0:32] it a lot quicker lot smoother from the [0:34] time that we get page until the station [0:36] or the truck goes in route is what we [0:38] call a turnout time so previously that [0:41] would be somewhere in a range of 5 to [0:43] six minutes for people to get up from [0:45] their you know leave their house or [0:46] their work to get to the station to [0:48] staff a truck and go on the call uh with [0:50] a staff truck that turnout time is less [0:52] than 2 minutes and that is one of our [0:54] goals that we had when we started down [0:56] this uh this uh Staffing was to be 2 [1:00] minutes or less that's the average that [1:01] we want to get them out the door on any [1:04] call obviously our travel time driving [1:07] from the station to that incident is the [1:10] travel time there's not much we can [1:11] change about that just due to the roads [1:13] and the distance that we're traveling [1:14] but our our overall response time as [1:17] example used to be with uh the pay on [1:20] call staffing and it is what it is is [1:23] would be 12 to 14 minutes before we get [1:25] a truck on scene right now with just one [1:28] truck because they're covering the ENT [1:29] entire city they're at that they're at 9 [1:31] Minutes 13 seconds to get on scene so [1:34] that's a pretty dramatic shift full-tim [1:37] if they're already at the [1:38] station boom they're in the truck right [1:40] away they're already down the road [1:42] they're getting information they already [1:44] have dedicated tasks like one guy I know [1:47] is going to force the door and then the [1:49] other guy's going to be pulling a line [1:51] in the front door and so a lot of the [1:53] times we can save a lot of property just [1:55] because we're taking out the fires so [1:57] fast before they actually spread to the [1:59] rest of the house so that's like a big [2:01] I'd say that's like the major advantage [2:03] of having full-timers I I do I think [2:05] it's gotten a lot smoother um both sides [2:08] have kind of come together the fulltime [2:10] and the pan on call side um we have [2:14] figured out how to make it a smooth [2:17] transition from my standpoint the the [2:20] comfort is knowing we have a truck that [2:22] is staffed all the [2:24] time versus when we were doing a pay on [2:26] you know paid on 100% pay on call we're [2:29] paging out of state and we never know [2:32] are we getting enough people to respond [2:34] to that emergency next year when we add [2:36] a second truck that staff we're going to [2:39] watch that that come down to our goal is [2:41] to be at about 7 minutes 30 seconds to [2:43] have a truck on scene for any incident [2:46] in the city of Lakeville [2:48] [Music]
