[0:07] uh firefighter year is an individual
[0:09] that we select by looking at their
[0:11] performance measures uh and then our
[0:13] values that we have as a department as
[0:15] far as competency uh how they perform in
[0:19] and around the fire department and then
[0:21] uh peer nominations of people that see
[0:23] those same traits and that they admire
[0:25] and maybe that's a person they look to
[0:27] and a mentor to them potentially uh Aon
[0:30] aiker is one of those individuals that
[0:31] was selected for our firefight of the
[0:33] year uh he's been with our department
[0:35] since
[0:35] 2018 uh he currently serves at a
[0:38] lieutenant here at station one uh and
[0:40] some of the things that were mentioned
[0:42] about Aaron is just his calm demeanor
[0:44] his passion for serving others uh not
[0:46] only within the fire department but out
[0:48] in the community somebody that's very
[0:49] engaged in that it's never expected um
[0:52] you know you always just respond to the
[0:54] station respond to calls uh work your
[0:57] shifts um in just a way that uh uh you
[1:00] know you just want to present your best
[1:02] and be your best and um so you know you
[1:06] don't really you're not really working
[1:09] or toward an award or you know
[1:11] recognition of anything it's just sort
[1:13] of um you know you just try to want to
[1:16] give the best you can uh of yourself to
[1:19] the community Aaron is always somebody
[1:21] that's just low level lowkey knows what
[1:23] needs to be done uh and they they
[1:25] accomplish that mission that task that
[1:27] needs to be done just by keeping keeping
[1:29] it calm demeanor and that helps
[1:31] everybody including the firefighters a
[1:33] patient potentially that we're there to
[1:35] help and we're going to we're going to
[1:36] do what we need to do and be
[1:37] professional about it yeah I mean it's
[1:40] just it's just sort of the way I'm wired
[1:42] every call we run is isn't really ever
[1:46] successful because of just one person it
[1:48] really is a collective kind of team
[1:50] effort of everyone that's on the crew
[1:51] for um that specific call so um you know
[1:56] to kind of receive an individual award
[1:58] is um
[2:00] I mean it's humbling it's um and it's
[2:02] just not expected you know in a time
[2:05] when we're we're every industry is
[2:07] looking for individuals to hire and have
[2:10] high performers it's always neat to see
[2:13] that we find find individuals like that
[2:16] that are here and that are willing to to
[2:18] spend their extra time serving their
[2:20] community
