[0:07] my name is Britt Nelson with the [0:08] Lakeville fire department here to talk [0:09] to you today about recreational fires in [0:12] the city of Lakeville we have ordinances [0:14] and codes that cover the ability to burn [0:16] on your property in the city um you're [0:19] allowed to have a recreational fire as [0:21] long as it's contained to a 3ftx 3ft [0:24] area and it is surrounded by [0:26] non-combustible material so that means [0:29] having a brick surround a fire pit made [0:31] of metal or stone surround those are all [0:34] fine uh some restrictions on what you're [0:36] allowed to burn in the city it has to be [0:38] nonm smok producing wood you cannot burn [0:42] construction materials you cannot burn [0:44] leaves and you cannot burn grass or [0:47] trash uh other than that the fire does [0:50] have to be attended by an adult at all [0:52] times and you do have to have means for [0:53] extinguishment readily available uh all [0:56] fires within the city have to be [0:58] extinguished by midnight and if you do [1:00] get any complaints from Neighbors about [1:02] smoke in the area we will ask you to [1:04] extinguish it uh violations of no burn [1:07] orders and the codes that surround [1:10] burning in the city can result in fines [1:12] from both the local and state level uh [1:15] if you have any questions about when you [1:16] can burn and what you can burn you can [1:18] give us a call here at the Lakeville [1:19] fire department and if you want to know [1:21] about realtime updates on Burn banss and [1:24] fire weather conditions you can check [1:25] out the Minnesota dnr's website on fire [1:28] safety
