Airport Manager Sam Sefelt and Community Relations Coordinator Jennifer Lewis delivered an "Airport 101" presentation explaining aviation basics, federal regulations, and the airport's technical systems. The presentation covered topics ranging from runway operations to instrument landing systems, emphasizing the airport's role as a reliever facility for Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.

Sefelt provided updates on the airport's frequency change process, which has been paused following concerns from New Richmond Airport about potential safety issues. The Federal Communications Commission had approved a frequency change to 122.975 in January, but airport officials decided to re-evaluate after neighboring airports raised concerns about congestion.

Community Development Director Tina Goodroad reported significant growth in Lakeville, with building permit valuations totaling over $257 million in 2024. The city ranked second in residential permit numbers statewide, with 285 single-family permits and various commercial developments. Lakeville now employs 21,852 people, representing a 3.9% increase over 2023.

Sefelt announced that the airport's maintenance building office renovation will begin April 15, requiring a 60-day completion timeline. The annual Airport Days barbecue event has been rescheduled to October 6 due to the construction project. The commission also discussed ongoing coordination with the Federal Aviation Administration regarding environmental assessments and runway protection zone analysis for the planned 225th Street paving project.
