Lakeville launches shoe recycling drive for November
The Lakeville City Council announced a shoe collection event timed to America Recycles Day, giving residents a chance to donate or recycle used footwear and reduce waste in the community.
Lakeville residents will soon have an easy way to responsibly dispose of old shoes. The city announced a shoe collection event running November 11th through 18th, coinciding with America Recycles Day on November 15th.
Drop-off bins will be located at City Hall during the collection period. The program aims to keep used shoes out of landfills by sorting them into two categories: shoes in good condition will be donated to those in need, while worn or damaged shoes will be recycled into new materials.
The initiative reflects growing efforts by local governments to reduce waste and extend the life of consumer goods. By offering a convenient collection point, the city hopes to encourage participation from residents who might otherwise throw away usable footwear.
Community members interested in participating can bring their used shoes to City Hall anytime during the November 11th-18th window. The city did not announce specific hours for drop-off or details about which organizations will receive donated shoes.
