Lakeville Police introduce new Taser 10 technology to officers
The Lakeville City Council heard a presentation Monday on the Police Department's rollout of the Taser 10, a new less-lethal weapon that extends officer safety capabilities and automatically activates body cameras during use.

When an officer arms the Taser 10, it simultaneously turns on all nearby body-worn cameras and squad car cameras without requiring manual activation. This automatic recording ensures incidents are documented even in chaotic situations where officers may not have time to manually start recording.
One of the benefits of the Taser 10 technology is that whenever it is armed, it will activate all bodyworn cameras in the area as well as any squad cameras," Matura explained. "This allows for an officer to ensure that even turning on their taser will automatically activate their bodyworn camera and start that recording process without them having to physically do it.
All sworn officers, community service officers, and reserve officers in Lakeville have been trained to carry and use the Taser 10. The department indicated the technology will play a role in safely resolving dynamic situations, including those involving individuals in crisis.
