Lakeville approves medical office building near Hy-Vee
The Lakeville City Council unanimously approved a 9,000-square-foot medical office building on Thursday that will house Grow Pediatrics and other healthcare services in the Spirit of Branchen Farms commercial area.
The council voted 7-0 to approve the preliminary and final plat, development plan, and easement modifications for MSP Pilot Knob LLC's project near Pilot Knob and 160th Street. The building will be a joint venture between MSP Commercial, a Minneapolis-area developer, and Grow Pediatrics, which already operates clinics in Inver Grove Heights and Richfield.
Rodney Hint of MSP Commercial told the council the location offers strategic advantages. "We like the location with the proximity to the Hy-Vee and residential areas and the growing community of Lakeville," he said. The project will consolidate three existing land parcels into one developed lot and requires the vacation and replacement of existing drainage and utility easements.
City planner Miss Jensen recommended approval subject to eight stipulations outlined in the planning report, noting the building complies with local design ordinances and uses Class A materials. The council's enthusiasm was evident. Commissioner Kuza called it "about as easy as a thing that the planning commission can do" and praised MSP Commercial for continuing to invest in Lakeville, referencing the company's 2022 Summit Orthopedics project in the city.
The approval moves the project forward toward construction. No timeline for groundbreaking was mentioned at the meeting.
