Lakeville Area Art Center launches year-round youth theater classes
The Lakeville Area Art Center announced new year-round theater programs for children ages 4 to 12, with classes beginning the week of March 10th. The initiative aims to build creativity and confidence in young performers through age-appropriate instruction.
The Lakeville City Council heard from Nikki Pretzer of the Lakeville Area Art Center about three new theater programs designed to serve children across multiple age groups. The offerings are tailored to different developmental stages: "Perform and Play" targets the youngest students (ages 4-5), "Theater Academy" serves grades 2-3, and "Acting Academy" is designed for grades 4-6.
Each program is structured to foster creativity, confidence, and acting skills in participants. The Art Center emphasized that financial scholarships will be available to families who need assistance, ensuring the programs remain accessible to community members regardless of income level.
Classes will begin the week of March 10th, giving families just days to register if interested. The year-round format means students can participate throughout the calendar year rather than in limited seasonal sessions, allowing for more continuous skill development and deeper engagement with theater arts.
The announcement represents an expansion of performing arts offerings in Lakeville, providing local families with structured opportunities for children to explore acting and theater in a supportive environment.
