The Lakeville City Council approved a new Chase Bank development and accepted a donation for automated external defibrillators during its May 19 meeting at City Hall.

The council unanimously approved the Heritage Commons 9th Edition preliminary plat, which will create two commercial lots north of 202nd Street. The 3,395-square-foot Chase Bank will occupy the western lot and feature drive-through service with access from Heritage Drive and Idyllic Avenue. The development includes required parking, landscaping and stormwater management features.

The Lakeville Soccer Club donated funds to install AED units at Steve Mashad Park and Caspersonson Park, responding to recent cardiac events at both locations. Peter Teima, a soccer club board member, said the organization decided to accelerate AED installation after cardiac incidents occurred during tournaments. The outdoor AED cabinets will include heating, cooling, surveillance and direct 911 communication capabilities.

During citizen comments, Greg Brown of Credit River raised safety concerns about 205th Avenue, describing the narrow, rolling road as dangerous for the mix of vehicles, bicycles and pedestrians using it. Brown said he was previously told road improvements would occur in 2023, then 2025, but now has been informed the project is scheduled for 2027. He urged the council to move the timeline to 2026, citing a previous fatality on the road.

The council also proclaimed May as ALS Awareness Month and approved a consumption and display permit for LD Designs LLC, doing business as Board and Brush, at 20770 Holyoke Avenue. The next council meeting is scheduled for June 2.
