The Lakeville City Council reviewed ongoing construction projects and upcoming community events during their July 21 meeting, with Public Works Director providing updates on multiple infrastructure improvements throughout the city.

The 185th Street project from County Road 50 to IPA is approximately 40 percent complete, with the project expected to open to traffic by the end of August despite weather delays, according to the public works report. The County Road 50 and Hamburg roundabout project, which began construction July 13, is anticipated to be completed by the end of September.

The council also heard presentations on upcoming community events, including National Night Out scheduled for August 5 and the 23rd annual Taste of Lakeville on August 14. The Lakeville Rotary Club will host the Taste of Lakeville at the Lakeville Area Arts Center, with tickets available for $50 in advance or $60 at the gate.

During public comments, resident Raymond Tudtow raised concerns about vehicle licensing requirements and compliance issues. City staff agreed to follow up with Tudtow directly to address his questions about obtaining vehicle tabs without insurance coverage.

The council approved a consent agenda that included accepting a water donation from Niagara Bottling to the fire department and approving the purchase of a gas kiln with grant funding from Minnesota Energy Resources and the Friends of the Art Center.
