[0:00] Hi, my name is Laura Adavani, the math [0:02] coordinator for Randolph Public Schools. [0:04] We are so excited to introduce our new I [0:07] Ready math curriculum for grades 1 [0:09] through five. This curriculum helps [0:11] students think deeply, explain their [0:13] reasoning, and build confidence as [0:15] mathematicians. [0:17] We are excited to see students using [0:19] models, talking about math, and making [0:22] meaningful connections. [0:28] My name is Bertton. I'm in second grade. [0:32] Every day we use the three reads. First, [0:36] we understand the action of the story. [0:40] The second read, we we understand the [0:43] the numbers, the quantities, and the [0:46] vocabularies. [0:48] Third, we solve it and then we talk to [0:52] our partners about our strategies. [0:56] >> One of the things that excites me about [0:57] the I Ready curriculum is the ability to [1:00] assess where our children are at any [1:03] point in their learning and then have [1:05] resources that are readily available to [1:07] educators to help each child so that we [1:10] can bridge some of those learning gaps [1:12] that they may have. This we sometimes [1:14] use these for number families. 86 - 80 = [1:20] 6 and 6 - 86 = 80. We use this to build [1:27] numbers. [1:29] We just have once we need to build the [1:32] 10 so we can get to the hundreds. [1:35] Additionally, the professional [1:37] development that leaders are able to [1:39] engage in so that we are deeply embedded [1:41] in the learning to support teachers and [1:44] to support children is phenomenal. So, I [1:47] is pretty exciting in RPS. [1:49] >> My math has gotten better because I I [1:52] learned those strategies and I talk more [1:55] to my partners because I made my I made [1:58] my strategies more visible to others can [2:01] see it.
