There was food, [1:09] drinks, music, dance, and fun [1:11] activities. All of the children enjoyed [1:13] being a part of the multicultural event. [1:16] >> We were glad to see so many people there [1:18] participating. Everyone did amazing, and [1:20] the event went great. Let's go see Chad. This is Juliana, [2:09] Miss and Dean K, and we're going to [2:11] interview them about the multicultural [2:13] event. What do you think contributed the [2:16] most to the success of this year's [2:18] multicultural show? [2:20] >> The families assisting us and making it [2:22] a great event for all to share and [2:25] receive. [2:28] How did you ensure that multiple [2:29] cultures were represented in the show? [2:32] >> Well, uh me and Dean Brown, we made sure [2:35] that all cultures represented by asking [2:38] the students in the community as well. [2:42] >> What feedback did you receive from [2:44] families and school community? [2:46] >> Oh, I love that question. So we received [2:51] a very positive feedback from the [2:54] community and um me and Mr. Brown we [2:59] both agreed that if we helped one [3:02] another then success will be rich. So [3:06] the community was very happy the staff [3:09] and most of all the students. There was [3:11] a lot of postings on Facebook, [3:13] Instagram, and everyone really enjoyed [3:16] what they saw, what it was attended [3:19] there, and they really loved it and [3:21] can't wait till our next event. [3:25] >> How do you think this show impacted the [3:27] students? [3:31] To me, I received uh feedback from my [3:34] students that after [music] they joined [3:36] the show, they were able to uh came out [3:40] from their comfort zone and they were [3:42] very happy because their parents were [3:45] there watching them shine on stage and [3:48] uh obviously they showcased their [3:50] talents. They're called [5:36] Winter Wonderland and we're looking to [5:38] give them out to people to like show our [5:40] appreciation or like people can get them [5:42] for their friends and stuff [5:44] >> for the holidays. For our final [10:39] segment of the show, we had the honor [10:40] and privilege of interviewing RCMS own [10:43] principal, Miss Monestine. Let's go back [10:45] to a few days ago when Greg had [10:46] principal me join us in our studio. [10:56] Good morning, RCMS. Today I'm here [10:59] interviewing Miss Monstein aka Principal [11:02] Monestine. My name is Gregory E. Simeon. [11:05] And without further ado, let's just get [11:08] right into the interview questions. Say [11:09] hi, Miss Monine. [11:11] >> Yes. Hello everyone and good morning. [11:14] >> Now, what is one of your what's your [11:16] opinion about the school? You know, this [11:18] your first year working here. How are [11:20] you feeling? You know. [11:21] >> Yeah. So, as you know or you might not [11:23] know, I was a student here. So, the [11:24] school looks very similar to what it did [11:26] when I was in seventh and eighth grade [11:28] back in the early 2000s, but it's the my [11:30] favorite experience so far. I love the [11:32] school. I love the age group. I used to [11:34] work with high school, but middle school [11:36] is definitely where it's at. The only [11:37] thing I really want to get better is [11:38] like our facilities. We need to make [11:40] sure our maintenance and our facilities [11:41] are the best for you all like in our [11:43] classrooms. [11:46] >> Awesome. Second question. Does if the [11:50] school became a zoo, what animal would [11:52] you want as a pet in your office? [11:55] >> If it wasn't going to like bite my head [11:57] off, I would say a tiger. [11:59] >> Pretty sick option. I can't lie. [12:02] >> Next question up. What was your job be? [12:05] What was What did you do before you [12:07] became the principal of RCMS? [12:08] >> Sure. I was a high school principal of a [12:10] charter school in Dorchester. Before [12:12] that, I was a dean of students. Before [12:15] that, I taught 10th grade humanities. [12:17] Before that, I taught eighth grade ELA, [12:20] so like you know, English and writing. [12:22] Before that, I was a special ed teacher. [12:24] And then I started at that school as an [12:26] intern. So, I worked my way up from an [12:27] intern to a principal in the same school [12:29] for 14 years. [12:30] >> So, you've always had like a teaching [12:32] working in school kind of dynamic. [12:34] >> For sure. And even in high school, I [12:36] worked at the McDonald's like right near [12:37] the high school here. And then in [12:39] college, I worked at Starbucks. So, I [12:40] really like working with my hands. It [12:42] was a lot of fun. And Starbucks was [12:43] actually one of my favorite jobs. I [12:44] really enjoyed like making coffee and [12:46] meeting new customers and people all the [12:47] time. [12:48] >> Awesome. My next question up, if you [12:51] could replace the morning announcements [12:52] with a song of your choice, what would [12:54] it be? [12:56] >> So, I love music. I have like 20 [12:58] playlists on my Spotify, all curated by [13:01] me. But I probably want to start with [13:02] something positive. Maybe like Lovely [13:04] Day by Bill Weathers. Lovely day. Lovely [13:07] day. [13:10] >> Awesome song choice. And for my last [13:13] question of this amazing interview, if [13:16] the if the school cafeteria was a [13:19] restaurant, what would it be? Like a [13:21] breakfast, lunch, dinner, what type of [13:23] restaurant would it be? [13:25] >> I think I would have to go with like a [13:26] buffet style representing like the [13:29] different ethnic foods or ethnicities [13:31] that we have in our school. So like for [13:33] instance, kind of like doing something [13:35] like the multicultural event that we [13:36] had. Same way we had all those different [13:38] kinds of foods. I would want our [13:39] restaurant or our cafeteria restaurant [13:41] to be like that. [13:43] >> Awesome. [13:44] Unfortunately, that's gonna do it for [13:46] this segment of the morning show.
