[0:05] Hello and welcome to this evening's
[0:07] concert for the fourth period sixth
[0:09] grade band. They have such a long name.
[0:11] Uh we're so excited to get to share this
[0:13] music with you. Uh you'll hear more from
[0:15] our students about what you'll be
[0:17] hearing specifically in just a moment.
[0:25] Hello, my name is Kayla and I play the
[0:27] flat.
[0:29] >> Hello, my name is Evelyn and I play
[0:31] horn. Welcome again to the fourth period
[0:34] of the sixth grade band concert. We are
[0:36] so excited to share everything we've
[0:37] been working on so far this year.
[0:40] Our first piece of music is called
[0:42] Nightrider by Alena Spec. She wrote this
[0:44] piece as a tribute to her husband's
[0:46] favorite childhood TV show Nightrider.
[0:48] She took the title and changed it to a
[0:50] word for this fan piece.
[0:53] Night Ride is meant to sound like a
[0:55] medieval's night staring adventure
[0:58] across the countryside. This piece was
[1:00] an opportunity for us to learn more
[1:02] about and use more dynamics, meaning
[1:05] different volumes. While we play, we
[1:07] hope you enjoy Night Ride by Al.

[3:27] clarinet.
[3:28] Our
[3:30] next piece is called Snooze Alone by Mel
[3:32] Rogers. Imagine it's early in the
[3:34] morning before school or work. You're
[3:36] sleeping peacefully. There are birds
[3:38] chirping outside your window. Then all
[3:40] of a sudden, your alarm goes off.
[3:43] >> But you can wait just 5 more minutes
[3:45] until you get up. That should be fine.
[3:46] You definitely won't be late if you
[3:48] snooze alarm.
[3:50] This piece gives us opportunity to work
[3:53] on the difference between playing
[3:55] staccato notes which are short and
[3:57] accent notes which are longer and have
[3:59] more emphasis.
[4:01] >> Listen carefully for the ticking of the
[4:03] clock and of course the orange itself.
[4:06] We hope you enjoy our time.

[6:51] Next up is another journey to medieval
[6:54] times with a piece called Rain by Robert
[6:58] W. Smith. This piece of this piece
[7:01] allowed us to use our imaginations and
[7:04] instruments to get across the majesty of
[7:09] royalty back in those times.
[7:12] Listen for the strong and majestic
[7:13] fanfare in contrast with a more gentle
[7:15] melody. We will use dynamics and
[7:17] articulations to tell the story of
[7:19] royalty. We hope you enjoy Rain by
[7:22] Robert Robert W. Smith.

[11:21] share with you tonight. Our next piece
[11:22] is called by William. This music is
[11:25] meant to display the adventurous chasing
[11:28] his specifically. He's going to make a
[11:31] hobby of popularized
[11:36] to be an exciting activity for
[11:41] just like just like a storm starts
[11:43] calling before really taking off. This
[11:45] music will start slow and spooky. Listen
[11:48] for a really unique instrument called
[11:49] the rain which I play. This instrument
[11:51] is used in many cultures around the
[11:54] world to make the sound of gentle
[11:56] falling rain. [cough]
[11:57] [clears throat]
[11:59] >> After the gentle rain, the storm gets
[12:01] stronger and more intense. This piece is
[12:03] full of things we learn such as new
[12:06] articulations, new
[12:10] we hope you we we hope you brought your

[15:25] have some thank yous. Um, we couldn't do
[15:28] what we do here at Valley without your
[15:30] support. uh shuttling students back and
[15:32] forth uh making sure their instruments
[15:34] get to school, doing their own things,
[15:37] signing those practice cards. Um so,
[15:39] thank you so much for everything that
[15:41] you do to allow these students to be
[15:43] here doing something so cool like this.
[15:46] Um students, give your parents a round
[15:48] of applause.

[16:04] Thank you to all the Valley Middle
[16:05] School staff and custodians, especially
