[Music] hey everyone it's Logan here with the Lowdown from this week's city council meeting got two items to highlight today and so we'll Dive Right In First the city council gave final approval to a 58 unit Town Home Development on 10 acres on the east side of akran Avenue this parcel is just North of our Flint Hills athletic complex and is a really nice development on that side of town this is a market rate owner occupied townhouse project that again we're really looking forward to and what this does then is brings this property into compliance with our long-term comprehensive plan this parcel is currently zoned agriculture but was guided or expected to be in our long-term plan lowdensity residential so this town house development fits nicely into that plan next the city council adopted the 2025 2026 goals and strategic initiatives for Council and staff to continue to pursue what you see here on your screen is a visual interpretation of that 5year strategic plan the first bucket is grow and enhance Ros mount folks certainly know there's no surprise to anybody Rosemont is growing quickly and as we grow we're looking to see how can we ensure that that growth both supports and enhances Rosemount provides services and amenities and attractions that residents and businesses are really looking to have here and really increase their quality of life the other buckets really flow down from that growth so as we grow we're we're ensuring in this second bucket here that we create Community connections this means abilities for you to connect with your neighbors to really stay connected as the city of Rosemount grows another really critical piece is is this third bucket here to preserve our hometown feel we hear time and time again and feel it as we are in the community that Rosemount has just this really special Hometown feel so as Rosemont grows and we welcome new neighbors how do we ensure that that Hometown feel stays present and stays alive this is through our highly anticipated community events our Athletics our Recreation our Trail connections as we said achieving these three buckets above is only done with a support of city council and a culture of high performance within the bounds here of City Hall and the City government we have that right now we have a really strong City staff that we're really proud of and so city council has made a strong initiative to say how do we retain these folks so that's it from this week's city council meeting some really good stuff accomplished there one other thing to flag pay attention in your mailboxes this week your Park and wreck summer newsletter will hit to sign up and sign ups are live online right now so sign up for those awesome summer programs that continues to support our hometown Feld and our community connections that's it follow us online as always and have a great week [Music]
