[0:25] Hello, my name is Kayla and I play the [0:27] flat. [0:29] >> Hello, my name is Evelyn and I play [0:31] horn. Welcome again to the fourth period [0:34] of the sixth grade band concert. We are [0:36] so excited to share everything we've [0:37] been working on so far this year. [0:40] Our first piece of music is called [0:42] Nightrider by Alena Spec. She wrote this [0:44] piece as a tribute to her husband's [0:46] favorite childhood TV show Nightrider. [0:48] She took the title and changed it to a [0:50] word for this fan piece. [0:53] Night Ride is meant to sound like a [0:55] medieval's night staring adventure [0:58] across the countryside. This piece was [1:00] an opportunity for us to learn more [1:02] about and use more dynamics, meaning [1:05] different volumes. While we play, we [1:07] hope you enjoy Night Ride by Al. There are birds [3:38] chirping outside your window. Then all [3:40] of a sudden, your alarm goes off. [3:43] >> But you can wait just 5 more minutes [3:45] until you get up. That should be fine. [3:46] You definitely won't be late if you [3:48] snooze alarm. [3:50] This piece gives us opportunity to work [3:53] on the difference between playing [3:55] staccato notes which are short and [3:57] accent notes which are longer and have [3:59] more emphasis. This music is [11:25] meant to display the adventurous chasing [11:28] his specifically. He's going to make a [11:31] hobby of popularized [11:36] to be an exciting activity for [11:41] just like just like a storm starts [11:43] calling before really taking off. This [11:45] music will start slow and spooky. Listen [11:48] for a really unique instrument called [11:49] the rain which I play. This instrument [11:51] is used in many cultures around the [11:54] world to make the sound of gentle [11:56] falling rain. Band room use the first five [17:10] notes we all learned in our instruments. [17:12] [snorts] It also features each section [17:14] of band and each group of instruments to [17:17] get their own time to shine. [17:21] First you'll heal fruit and oy on their [17:24] own. Then clarinets, then trumpets, then [17:26] saxopones and worms together. And [17:28] finally we'll grass. The whole time [17:30] percussion provides our steady beat and [17:32] enhances our sound. To end this piece, [17:35] we will all come together to show our [17:37] parents.
