[Music] hey everyone it's Logan here with the Lowdown from this week's city council meeting two really fun items to talk about today and so we'll jump right into it first we had the official kickoff to leprechaun days as everyone knows leprechaun day starts here in Rosemount and runs July 20th through 27th one of the first things coming up this weekend is the waffle and sausage breakfast that is a really important fundraiser for our Ros Mount volunteer fire department then Saturday afternoon we we have the grill your ace off event which is the barbecue event that we're trying this year in partnership with Pichi Ace Hardware the full event schedule for leprechaun days is available online and make sure to fully plug in to one of our most favorite events here in Rosemount next the city council received a presentation from police chief Mike dalstrom talking about some awards that his officers have won and doing the oath of office for two of our newest officers Officer Trevor Wagner and Officer Nick melendres both received their oath of office this week we're so thankful to have new officers on our force and we have just a wonderful Police Department that we know that the Rosemont residents really really appreciate Chief dlrm acknowledged some awards that have been won in his Department first the employee of the year for the year 2022 was officially recognized in front of the city council and that is actually Officer Nick mandres when he was one of our community service officers CSO melendres performed wonderfully in 2022 averaging 30 hours a week for the city uh while also attending college and serving full-time in the military employee of the year in 2023 went to Reserve officer Marty Smith officer Marty Smith goes above and beyond to volunteer in a fully volunteer role as a Reserve officer giving over 600 hours in 2023 alone earning him recognition as employee of the year lastly Chief Dam recognized officer Paul Larson being named the Minnesota juvenile Officers Association juvenile officer of the year Paul Larson is our school resource officer splitting time between the Rosemont Middle School and the Rosemont High School and he is just a wonderful addition to both our police department and most importantly in this role serving the students faculty and staff at both the middle school and the high school and we're really excited to congratulate him on this award so with that that was a brief summary of this week's meeting be sure to check out the full meeting online as you're interested and we will see you next time
