[Music] Hey everyone, it's Logan with the lowdown from this week's city council meeting. We had a pretty quick meeting, but I wanted to highlight a couple of items that came up of importance for the city council work session. The city council work session discussed a number of important road construction projects happening in the city of Rosemount occurring this summer that I just wanted to flag for the community. So this summer, Mindot will begin construction on a roundabout at Highway 3 and 142nd Street at the entrance of the Rosemont High School. The new roundabout at Rosemont High School has been a long awaited project that we're really excited to get kicked off. It's important to note that this will cause some significant traffic disruption in the community this summer. Highway 3 will be entirely closed to allow this construction project to occur. This is a major safety improvement for our students as they leave Rosemont High School. And the good news is is this work will start the Monday after Rosemont High School closes for the summer and it will be done in the middle or end of August as in preparation for the high school to reopen for students as they come back in the fall. As we know, Rosemont High School is also starting their significant renovation, remodel, and expansion projects with the fieldhouse being built at Rosebond High School. So, there will just be a lot of activity in and around Rosebond High School this summer. So that is an area to just be cautious of, be aware of, and then plan for your appropriate and safe detour routes. Staff has also been working with Dakota County on planning efforts for a roundabout at Akran and Conamera Avenue, as well as plans for a traffic signal at Biscane and County 42 in preparation for the Rose Middle School coming in 2027. Again, we'll be heavily communicating about this project and surrounding projects as we approach the summer here. Please check out rosemount mn.gov/construction /construction to stay up to speed at all times with the road construction happening around Rosemount this summer and we appreciate your patience in advance. At the regular meeting, the city council took a couple of important actions as well. First, public service recognition week is the first week here in May and the council formally proclaimed public service recognition week and then specifically police week is next week with National Police Memorial Day being May 15th. And so council also designated police week for in the city of Rosemont for next week. And we of course thank our public safety police professionals for their sacrifice and service to our community. The city council also acknowledged a really great showing for the city at the recent Minnesota real estate journal awards. The city was nominated in five categories at this really prestigious real estate event and I wanted to flag them for you. First, we were really thrilled and honored to win city of the year for the state of Minnesota for the second consecutive year. We frankly did not expect a repeat in this award and are thrilled to have repeated as city of the year. So congrats to all and and thanks to our public servants, our leaders here on the city council and you as a community for making this city so wonderful and the wonderful place that it is. Our economic development manager, Eric Vanos was named economic developer of the year, which is a very prestigious recognition to receive from his peers acknowledging the wonderful work he has done here for the city of Rosemount as we've had a bunch of economic development wins in recent years. So, congratulations to Eric and we're proud of you for this award. The University of Minnesota also won an award for the most significant land transaction of the year 2024. Lastly, the city was also nominated in the government buildings award for the police and public works campus. We're proud of that nomination and also nominated in the restaurant and entertainment category for the lifetime project. So, really awesome. Five awards. It was a wonderful night.
