[Music] hey everyone it's Logan here with the Lowdown from this week's city council meeting one critical item to discuss today and we'll dive right into it the city council completed a 2-year process in updating its zoning and subdivision code this is a really critically important process the city council Planning Commission City staff and specifically our planning and zoning and Community Development staff have been deeply engaged in for the last couple of years along with support from a city's consultant this work reorganized reformatted and really simplified the city's zoning code some key highlights from this work included the reduction of duplication in some of our zoning code chapters we took it down from 13 to 10 chapters the updated districts provide specific standards to incorporate the market realities that our city staff is seeing as they meet and discuss development opportunities with developers in town really what this work has done is given the city's staff and developers a really clear handbook by which they can clearly open to and understand what the city expects to see from development proposals as they come into the city so this is a long process we're really pleased with the result as a resident and a land owner in town you will not see much impact on the work that this does this is really a behind the scenes work to give a more clear Playbook by which development can occur in the city so that's it from this week's city council meeting be sure to check the full video online on YouTube as you're interested and we'll see you next time
