[0:08] Hello, my name is Jodyie and I play [0:10] percussion. [0:11] >> And my name is Sophia Payne and I play [0:13] clarinet. [0:18] Welcome again to the sixth period sixth [0:20] grade band concert. We're so excited to [0:22] share everything we've been working on [0:23] so far this year. Our first piece of [0:27] music is called Night Ride by Alina [0:30] Spec. She wrote this piece as a tribute [0:32] to her husband's favorite childhood TV [0:35] show, Night Rider. She took the kettle [0:38] and changed it so it worked for the Bay [0:40] of Peace. [0:42] Night Ride is meant to sound like a [0:44] medieval night steering adventure across [0:46] the countryside. The piece was an [0:49] opportunity for us to learn and about [0:51] and use more dynamics, meaning different [0:53] volumes while we play. We hope you enjoy [0:56] Nightride violin spec. The birds are chirping [4:09] outside your window. Then all of a [4:11] sudden, your alarm goes off. [4:17] But you can still wait just five more [4:19] minutes until you get up. That should be [4:21] fine. You definitely won't be late if [4:24] you snooze. [4:28] This piece gave us the opportunity to [4:31] work on the difference between [4:34] staccato notes which are short and [4:37] extended notes which are longer than [4:45] listen carefully for the ticking of the [4:47] clock, the dreamy lullaby, and of course [4:51] the alarm itself. We hope you enjoy this [4:53] alarm by Muel Rogers. [4:56] >> [applause] [5:08] >> Hello. [5:36] >> [music] [5:40] [music] [5:48] >> Heat. Heat. The band worked on playing like [12:04] playing with Dannis [12:07] and what to do when or for [12:12] at the end of a song. Voltage is a [12:14] popular name given to the final mo [12:18] movement of the B of B [12:30] symphony. [12:36] The symphony is based on a poem written [12:38] in 1785 by Richard Schiller. The meeting [12:41] is a powerful celebration of of [12:43] universal brotherhood, peace, and the [12:44] hopeful unity of humanity under a higher [12:47] power. We hope you enjoy it. What a joy. [12:50] [applause] [12:55] [applause] [13:26] Okay. [13:30] [music] [13:31] Heat. Heat. [13:38] [music] [13:43] [music] [13:51] [music] [13:52] Heat. Heat. [15:18] The rhythm rhythm section also adds to [15:20] the piece by creating a sound of drum [15:22] sound. See if you are able to hear the [15:24] solid rock beat as we perform our long [15:26] blues. [15:28] [applause] [15:40] Heat. [15:56] [music] [16:03] Heat. [music] [16:06] Heat [16:13] [music] [16:18] up [16:21] [music] [16:26] [music] [16:28] here. [16:32] Heat. [16:34] [music] [16:39] [music] [16:47] [applause] [16:51] [applause] [16:58] [applause] [17:01] Heat. [17:13] Okay, we're going to do one more that's [17:16] not on the program just cuz a lot of [17:18] them wanted to play it. We spent a lot [17:20] of time on it. It's uh the winter [17:23] season, holiday season. Uh so we are [17:25] going to play that uh for you in a [17:27] second. Um, before we do that, I just [17:30] like to thank uh parents. Uh, thank you [17:33] for all of your time. Thank you for all [17:35] your your financing for financing [17:37] warrants. Thank you for running them [17:38] back and forth. Thank to the concert [17:40] tonight. I know the weather is not great [17:42] outside. Um, thank for doing all those [17:44] things, parents. Um, and it's this [17:47] wouldn't happen without you. Um, and for [17:50] me growing up, uh, it was the same [17:52] thing. My parents had to beg me to [17:54] practice. my mom would be like, "You [17:56] know, David, I haven't heard that trump [17:57] in a long time. I really like hearing [17:59] it." Okay. Uh and so it really does help [18:03] uh when you do say things like that to [18:04] your kids. Um but it does it's really [18:06] paying off. You can tell right now. Uh [18:09] if you would have heard them the first [18:10] week of school and they're all shaking [18:12] their heads, I'm sure right now and you [18:14] heard them now, you wouldn't even you [18:16] would think they're all different kids. [18:18] Hey, so uh they have done a fantastic [18:20] job. [applause] [18:25] And then you guys give your parents a [18:28] round of applause for two for thanking [18:29] them. [applause] [18:36] All right. Then I'd like to thank Mr. [18:38] Jer and the rest of our BMS [18:41] administration uh for all their support [18:43] and for Mr. Jer for being here tonight [18:45] as our administrator. I'd like to tell [18:47] you to thank Sean Linquist. He helps us [18:49] a lot with lights. um he's our tech guy [18:51] here at school, but he helps us with [18:53] lights and helps us get video cameras [18:54] and things ready. So, I'd like to thank [18:56] him tonight for that uh help. Um [18:59] custodians, uh they set up all this [19:01] staging that the kids are on. So, we [19:03] bring the stage out. Um and they also [19:05] set up the chairs that you're sitting on [19:06] tonight. And so, it's uh super helpful [19:08] that they do all that for us. So, I'd [19:10] like you to uh I'd like to thank them as [19:12] well. Um you can thank them as well by [19:15] when you leave tonight, if you fold up [19:18] your chair, you don't have to stack it. [19:19] They don't want you to put them in the [19:20] racks. They just want you to lean them [19:22] against the wall. So, if you can do that [19:24] before you go tonight, um that would be [19:26] awesome. Um I'd like to thank Mr. [19:29] Sabberg, who's Steven Seabber, who's [19:32] sitting up here in the trumpet section. [19:33] We got a couple trumpets out. And then [19:35] Miss Mariah Jensen, who's back here. Uh [19:38] none of this would happen without them [19:40] as well. And uh everybody that's sitting [19:43] on this stage right now, they see me for [19:46] band, but they see these two for [19:48] lessons. and this wouldn't happen if it [19:50] wasn't for them as well. So, I want to [19:52] also [applause] [19:58] [applause] [20:01] um keep keep those practice cards going [20:04] at home. If you haven't seen a practice [20:05] card, please ask your kid what a [20:07] practice card is. Okay? And and I know [20:10] it's it's uh it's kind of a little [20:12] thing, but it does help at least get [20:14] kids to um kind of organize themselves [20:16] and and kind of think towards okay, have [20:18] I done this? Have I done this? Have I [20:20] have I can I see that my practice is [20:23] paying off when I come to lesson? Our [20:25] goal is that they uh can play a whole [20:28] page of their lesson book. Yes, their [20:30] assignment every two weeks basically. [20:32] And so our goal is that they come in [20:34] with that assignment ready to go. So, if [20:36] you can keep encouraging them to do [20:37] that, um they they always have homework [20:40] for band. Um we only really need them to [20:43] if they're playing four or five days a [20:45] week, that's fine at home. Um and if [20:47] they're having trouble uh doing it at [20:49] home, you can also get them here at [20:50] school. If you just send us an email, we [20:52] will we'll try to get them in during [20:53] Eagle Time or whatever. Um but that's [20:56] super helpful and that's actually what [20:58] makes this happen. Um band is great. We [21:02] do a lot of things in band and playing [21:03] together. We do a lot of new learning, [21:05] but in their lesson, they get individual [21:07] attention on all those things that they [21:09] need to learn to make band go better. [21:12] And so, please keep encouraging to get [21:14] on that lesson book and keep playing at [21:16] home. Uh, finally, I want to thank these [21:20] students behind me. Uh, they have done a [21:23] fantastic job of improving this whole um [21:27] first half of the year. I'm very proud [21:29] of them. Um I uh none of this obviously [21:33] would happen without them as well. Um [21:35] but they are so uh in rehearsal. They're [21:39] so on it. They're they're trying to get [21:41] better every day and I'm really really [21:43] proud of them. So thank these kids up [21:45] here. [applause] [21:53] All right. I know you got some belts and [21:57] that's what we like. Get some cool hats [21:59] on. [22:12] [music] [22:20] [music] [22:25] [music] [22:32] >> [music] [22:38] >> Heat. [23:38] My name is [23:43] is volleyball and I'll play. [23:48] Our final piece of music we will be [23:50] playing is Bedroom Room Boogie by [23:54] Michael Swing. Band Room Boogie uses the [23:57] first five notes we all learned in our [24:00] instruments. [24:01] It also features each section of the [24:03] band and each group of instruments gets [24:05] their own time to shine. [24:08] First you'll hear about schools [24:12] then excellence and posting and finally [24:16] ros the whole time profession provides [24:18] our study be and enhance their sound to [24:20] the ends we all play together. [24:27] Thank you for coming to our concert [24:28] tonight and we hope you enjoy Michael [24:31] Swoon's band. Drive home safely. Have a [24:34] great winter break and remember us [24:36] remember to take us for a treat after [24:39] this. [24:41] [applause] [25:00] That's the best thing to do.
