[Music] hey everyone it's Logan here with a Lowdown from this week's city council meeting we had a great city council meeting I've got two items to share with you today first Chief of Police Mike dstm submitted a grant request to the Department of Public Safety on behalf of the city and we were really pleased to report to the city council this week that we received a $100,000 Grant this was a highly competitive grant program that will end up funding two police officers in our career transitions program this is a new initiative developed by the state admin inota to support the really critical shortfall of police officers that we're seeing throughout the state of Minnesota folks that get entered into the program will join a 5-month training program starting in October of 2024 and then they'll become members of the Rosemount Police Department so this funding like I said is a $100,000 grant that will fund their salary their equipment and their training to do that five-month training program and then we will welcome them onto our police force we continue to grow our Police Department we continue to look for fabulous candidates to join our team and we're really excited to see where this program can take us next the city council approved a deepening investment in the city's parks and playground infrastructure first the city council approved the development of Dunmore Park so this is the initial construction and preparation of about a059 acre small neighborhood park for the Dunmore development off of Highway 3 the city council also approved three new playground installations throughout the city of Rosemount one is the playground that will go on the newly constructed Dunmore Park like I previously mentioned also camfield Park will receive a replacement of their playground which was initially installed in 1999 so it's due for a replacement on our normal replacement path and lastly the city council approved a new park design and construction at talamore Park out on rosemount's Eastern side of town all told this is about a $375,000 investment in our ever expanding Park system and so we're really excited to see what this will do for those neighborhoods so that's it from this week's city council meeting as always check us out on all of our social media channels and we'll see you next time
