[Music] hey everyone it's Logan here with the Lowdown from this week's city council meeting we've got two important things to talk about and so we'll Dive Right In First in a really historic night for the city of Rosemount the city swore in its first ever full-time fire chief chief Springer comes to the city of Rosemount with over 25 years of fire service experience starting out in a paid on call position similar to the Rosemount Arrangement at the Eden Prairie Fire Department and then heading to the Plymouth Fire Department in a leaders position before spending the last 9 years as deputy chief for the Egan fire department just up the road Chief Springer is a Ros Mount resident with his wife and adult children and he's just thrilled to start this opportunity and we're so excited to have him join our team this move indicates this really strong focus at the city places on Public Safety as we continue to grow and expand thank you for your trust and support um thank you all so much for being here um again you don't know what this means um I have no I have no words um thank you um thank you for believing in me next the city council gave final approval to the 2025 tax levy and budget for the city of Rosemount coming up next year as I say every year this is a really critical task that we do and a strong indication of our strategic plan and values as an organization as we look into 2025 the budget next year reflects a 10.69% growth to the operating budget to fund that operation we show a 99.9% increase to our overall Levy a meian valued homeowner for that 99.9% Levy change would will feel a $69 increase to their city taxes as folks will remember we've been slowly phasing in the public works and police campus Levy into this overall annual Levy $40 of that overall value is equated to the public works and police campus with the remainder for the city operational GR growth we had $177 million in new construction growth last year which saved the average homeowner $70 on their taxes a couple of Key Personnel highlights inside this budget include an additional IT staff member with the hiring of two additional police officers we have a crime analyst position that recently started our full-time fire chief also in the fire department we have EMT training for our firefighters as we look to get our full team of 50 firefighters trained up as EMTs and we have a public works leadership position as well as we grow and expand our support and service in public works so again a lot of really critical tasks added inside this budget a strong reflection of the city's growth and the ability to do so many things inside of a budget with a modest growth to the overall tax levy so as always check out the full video from the council meeting on YouTube follow us on all of our social medias and we'll see you next time
