Um, I'm Beth Geese. I'm the superintendent here and I'm filling in for Jenny uh Carrier, our communic our community ed director. Um, she's unable to be here tonight. She's at baseball, which is I hope they're winning. Um, I'm honored tonight to present tonight's early childhood comic coin for helping recognize a very special achievement. This achievement reflects the dedication of our youngest comets and their parents and caregivers that have made it a priority to read every single day. Tonight, we're going to honor Weston. Are you here, Weston? Oh, right there. Oh, I see you now. You were hiding behind her head. I see you now. Thank you for looking this way. Weston and his family members are here tonight because they supported him the whole way. Guess how many books he has read? 1,000 books. Come on down, Weston. Bring your Every time I see you, you're going to get a really old >> years old. And who's your teacher? >> Miss Hans. >> Whoa. Miss Hansen. She was a really awesome teacher. Right. lucky. And then she says, "What's your favorite book?" >> Just all books. >> Yeah. One, two, three. He's on his way now. >> Next, Mr. All right. Thank you for having me here this evening. Uh my name is Eric Wilkey. I teach eighth grade global studies at the middle school. And every year we do a geography beat with our seventh and eighth graders. And something the the students I think get pretty excited about. They do a great job with it. And uh this year I'd like to call up Zachary B. Zack, if you would come on down. Glad you could make it. Um, I'm just going to read a uh news press release we send out every year for the winners. And uh I'm just going to read it. I I can't be any more direct than this. Zachary B, eighth grade student and son of Joshua and Ashley B of Cassin won the 2026 Cassim Matterville Middle School geography be all students in grades seven and eight completed or competed in this year's competition on April 7th, 2026. Zachary scored a perfect 24 out of 24 questions and I have his answer sheet ready. That's for you. >> Zachary will be recognized at KMMS with his name etched into a plaque hung in perpetuity. He will be awarded a certificate of recognition which I have right here, receive a comic coin and celebrate his achievement with a fine meal at the Humble House in Manorville, Minnesota. How would you fair as a beacon as a geography beacon testing at the school be this year? Students had to answer such questions as home to many ancient Roman ruins, Aman is the most populous city in wet west Asian country. This group of Chilean islands sit at about 54 degrees south latitude and its name means land of fire. The smallest country in terms of population is also the only country in Central America whose primary language is English. And I know he knows all these, but I'm not going to put them on the spot right now. They are Jordan, Tiar Del Fuego, and Police. So, congratulations, Zach. >> I think there's a common coin right here. I'm telling you, this guy's a geography witch. All right, here we go. One, two, three. I am trying activities director and I also I'm going to have a few of my own awards but first I'm stepping in for Mr. Langmo to give the high school student of the month awards. Uh the student of the month uh we have a student per grade 9 through 12 chosen uh each month and they're chosen by the Minnesota or the CMA High School staff and basically they're responsible for themselves and others. They are positive role models within their class and other peers. They offer help to others in need and they're progressing academically. So, uh, a couple of these guys are at baseball tonight as well. So, uh, we do have two of them here. That's good. So, freshman award goes to Ruby Sutton. Our sophomore award is Kayen Lee who's playing baseball in Northfield tonight. Our junior award goes to Shyler Sullivan. And our senior award is also playing baseball in Northfield. Grady Babcock. Just a quick note on baseball. He was also chosen to play in the All-Star game this year, which is a huge award that will be selected as one of the South members, and it's a pretty select group. He's had an amazing year and an amazing career. So, let's give a hand to all these Looking good. Here we go. Thank you. All right. Next up on my list is our Cass and Vanderbell boys wrestling team. Uh they had several accomplishments this year, not only on the mat, but also in the classroom. Uh I'm going to bring up Coach Ryan Hill, who's led this program, what is it about now, four years. Is it four? Is it? >> Well, he's been around for a long time. Let's give a hand to Coach R. So, um, uh, first off, I just want to thank the school board tonight for having us here. Um, school board administration, you guys are great. we need something, you get it and uh and you're always supporting us. So, thank you very much. Um secondly, teachers. Um you know, it's an easy team to coach because of the things that that you guys do in the classroom. They're around excellence all day, you know, and they come downstairs and that's they've been preaching all day and they're ready to go there. And then lastly, everyone else, I'm here community. Uh there's not too many places in town that I go right on people checking in, willing to help. So, thank you for your support at all times. Um, one of the really cool awards we got this year was the Minnesota Wrestling Coach Association's academic gold award. Um, the team had a average GPA of 3.516, which puts us in the gold tier. I know we've gotten it two years in a row, maybe three years in a row, and a couple silvers before that. So, um, it's it's something that we take a lot of pride in. And so tonight, um, I asked the 10 members whose GPA were used in that that average to come for their comic coins. So come on down. Um, Kaitlin Anderson, 11th grader. Uh, he had the highest GPA on THE TEAM. PARKER MITCH, 11TH GRADER. Kylie Hazer, 11th grader. He's a baseball, sophomore. Senior, sophomore. Lisa Meyers, freshman. Daniel, freshman. Freshman. And then lastly, I do want to recognize our state state qualifiers and state place winners um for the 2026 season. Uh state qualifier Cassenya, senior, sophomore, fifth place, 121 lbs. Kayla Anderson, junior, fifth place, 139 lbs. Max Ashford, freshman, state runner up, 160 pounds, and Parker Richards, junior state champion. All right, here we go. One, two, three. All right, next up is our girls wrestling program. Um this program was we had a a few girls probably maximum two per year one to two per year for a few years and then um we decided two years ago we're going to separate this and uh we want to give a a big shout out to Kratos as they have served as the practice area for this group and they can kind of call that their own home. So, thank you, sir. Uh, and, um, so what I'm going to do, I'm going to bring up Coach Amy Peterson, and she's got a historical award to give away tonight. They set history this year. Let's give Let's get My name's Amy Peterson. I'm the girls wrestling coach. No one told me how to talk, so I'm happy like Brian, but I do know everything Ryan says. Like, thank you for for the support. Thank you for the to the board. We really appreciate it. You know, it is our second year. We're just getting going, but we went from five girls to 12 girls and um hopefully we'll just keep adding. That's that's our goal. Um but um we're here to recognize um one of our eighth graders who's not only excelled on the wrestling mat, but she excels in school as well. She's 4.0 and always studying and you know all the other girls are doing Tik Toks and everything else and she's in between matches doing homework um every single time even at the state tournament when we had breaks she went back to the hotel she worked on all of her homework and whatnot she's definitely the perfect uh person to have and to be such a good leader for all of the other girls as well too so especially during seventh and eth nth grade where it's you know it's hard to be teenage girls so We have Elelliana Odano Hugh. She took third place at state this year. She beat two girls um at the state tournament that she had lost to earlier in the year. One of the girls uh she had lost to like the week prior and and even prior than that. So um she really had to dig down um deep and um just completely excelled. I think it was the dog her mom promised her, but I don't know. Like I said, lots of kudos to her and super proud. And thank you again for everybody, especially Kratos Elbert has been a huge support letting us be there. Um, but not just that, like donating the iPad for us so we can record the matches and all the other donations. So, um, you know, I people probably don't know me really, but like I'm from Byron and my little now come to Kassen, but like this the community support here in Cassin is like no other um compared to other schools and like I said, I was there for 18 years with big. So, um the support here in Cassen is just unbelievable and that that's a testament for all of you guys here um being here and supporting the school like you guys do. So, it's kudos to you guys too. There we go. All right. All right, next up we have our Cass Meal High School speech team and I think both coaches are here by some people. Um we have a number of different awards to give out uh state national um and uh also academic awards. So, let's give a hand to these two leaders of this program, Mrs. Edwards and Mrs. WALSH. EVERYONE, I like Brian would like to say thank you to the school board, to the community, to the teachers, um, parents, and everyone else. Our programs cannot run without your support. It takes a village. And so, we are very grateful for all that you guys do for us. I also want to make take a moment. Ice Kes couldn't be here today. Um, but I want to put a shout out to him. For the last several years, he has worked diligently to build our middle school team, um, without any compensation. He doesn't get paid for it. He just works really hard to recruit those kiddos. Um, which we all know having that start in the middle school, brings them into high school and keeps them going. So, we've been very lucky to have them. um my co- advisor Heather Walsh also um I couldn't do this without her support and bringing up and helping me um in those times that I need that extra little um oomph to get going. Um we have a long season. Our kiddos start in November preparing and we go until May. And when I say that, they're already coming to me now going, I thought of a piece for next year and I think it'll work. And so we're ready at it for next year. So our season really is never ending in that aspect, but um we love what we do. And so, you know, it's one of those things that when you're passionate about something, it's never ending. So we love doing it all the time. So this year we had some record numbers. And Isaac's the number guy. I'm not, but I think I got it right. So um we had 20 students that went to sections this year and we had the most make it into finals rounds. We had 13 students make it into finals um at sections. Um as a team we placed third both in HBL and sections which is also like a first for us as a team. So you know moving up that ladder and and seeing those results are amazing. Um with that said we had six that were in the top three spots at sections which guaranteed them a spot at state and I'll call them down in just a moment. And then we had one place fourth which earns them a spot as an alternative at state in case someone um doesn't show up kind of thing. Um so we'll talk about that. And then we also let's bring them down first and I'll let you give them the comic coins. All right. I don't think I saw Arlo G. Okay. Arlo G um place second in pros. So we'll give her a speech blryette plays third in drama. Noah Witty, who's not here, and his um partner Ree Hyatt placed third in Duo. Uh Savannah Potter placed third in Creative X. And I want to take just a second with Savannah because she wrote her own speech. Um and so not only did she place third at sections, but she placed seventh overall at state. Um which is an amazing accomplishment. So, I had extra clap for that one. Um, Zoe Wine, who could not be here, placed second in humor. And then Cooper Warden placed fourth in sections, earning that spot as an alternative. So, we also for the second year in the row went to NITA, which is the National Individual Events Tournament of Champions, and it's separate from the Minnesota State High School League. Um, and it it brings schools in from all over the country. So, we go up against kids in Alaska to Hawaii. They come from all over the place. And this year, the students earn bids from different competitions. They usually have to place within the top three at a bid competition. Um, and then they have to earn x amount of points in order to qualify. Um, this year we took four students, Arl Gaul, Ambry Barnett, Cooper Warden, and Zoe Wall State. Also this year we had um an academic all-American which is through the national speech and debate association and they were given to Reese Hyatt and Savannah Potter. And then last of all our seniors Arl and Reese Hyatt were recognized by the Minnesota Speech Association and received a certificate and pin for being on the 2026 Minnesota State Coaches Association Allstate Speech Team. um to enable to earn that um title, they have to have at least three years experience on the team. They maintain a stellar record with the Minnesota State High School League. They attend at least 75% of the team's tournaments, place in the top six at least 12 times throughout their high school career, and have a minimum of two appearances appearances at the Minnesota State High School state speech tournament, and show extensive leadership and service to their local speech team, which both of them have been captains for the last two years. um supporting us and the students throughout. So they have done an amazing job and I will always be proud to be called their coach. Thank you. Thank you. That way. >> Thank you. All right, here we go. One, two, three. Good evening, school board, and thank you for your time as we present to you our May school board report. Our spring sports are just getting into their playoff seasons. Softball has a record of 12 and six with their first playoff game being tomorrow at home against Austin. Baseball has a record of 97 with their next tonight against Northfield in Northfield. And their first playoff game will be this Saturday at 1 p.m. at home. The track and field teams are having a great season and continuing to be to set new personal bests. And their next meet is on Wednesday at New High School. Both girls and boys golf are having great seasons, placing third and second, respectively overall in their meet at Northern Hills last Friday. They both had their HBL championship tournament today and their section tournaments May 26th in addition to spring sports. We have several upcoming activities and updates from our clubs to share. The drum department has their banquet on May 9th where they announce their upcoming season. They are dreaming number for the one act roach for the spring show there to dream junior for the middle school musical and of course mia for the fall 7 through 12 musical. This beach sent four students Amber Bernance Cooper Warden Zoe Walsteina and Arnold golf to the national individual events tournament of champions and ch two ago and they had a great three days of competition. Our clubs have also been hard at work over the past month as well. SAP had their seat belt challenge last Wednesday and they will be doing seat belt checks this Wednesday. The Minnesota Honor Society brought around a sunshine breakfast card in the morning to all high school teachers, janitors, and administration administrators during teacher appreciation week and had a fun time serving the seniors at a pancake breakfast on senior decision day. And CCLA had a lot of their burger night last Friday and have another one coming up this Friday as well. They have also been selling root beer floats at all of the band and choir concerts and had their end of year banquet on May 11th. The environmental club recently went out to Oxbow Park where they helped the staff plant around 200 trees of the sugar maple oak, red oak, and lenon varieties. FFA had their favorite yesterday in which they celebrated their success of the year. In addition, Tyler Sling was named FFA president and Nessa Spanser was named vice president for the next year. Senior class officers for next year were also chosen. Class president is Zachary Shar. Vice President is Shyler Svin. Secretary is Jesslyn H. Treasures Floyd. Social media rep is Harper. Staff and public relations is community represent representatives are Aiden Ryder and Adeline House and student lions are Morgan Le and Mir finished their end of year concert over the past two weeks and had a lot of fun playing and singing pop hits concert band and ensemble will be playing for the Memorial Day event next Monday as Of course, we can't forget about our graduating seniors. They have their senior trip to Whitewater Park May 2nd and graduation will be held at 700 p.m. on June 5th in the lunchroom. We are gearing up for the last few weeks of school to finish strong. Uh it's been really fun to represent the student employees. Um I think it's really important to hear from our students and so I'm very glad that I got to represent such an important >> I just want to say you guys have done an amazing job and it's really important um for the school board. It's one of my favorite pieces but it's important to stay informed and to know what's going on in schools and you guys you did that. Great. So, thank you all. >> I wanted to add to that, too, that that you always show up very professional, very planned out. You know exactly what you're going to say. Look, you've done your research. Um, and we can tell when you come and do that report. So, thank you for everything you put into it. >> Just want to you guys do an amazing job and it's just fun to hear all the different activities and clubs. I'm wondering how prepare for that report and kind of gather all that information. So, I start our report off and I do a majority of the information collecting. So, I basically sit down for probably a good hour to two hours and I just go through um Google searching to find records. Um going through all the clubs, Instagram changes um talking with my friends who are in it for some of the ones who aren't as involved and then um moving make sure I don't miss anything that I haven't messed anything up especially for records. That was we kind of checked a few times but um yeah, it's been really great. It's a great way also to connect with my peers like everybody's doing as well. >> Me and we do this is what school. Thanks so much for asking that, Denise, because that makes this way more impressive that you go out and search for all this information and collect it and bring it back. So I guess I guess we'll move right on to communications. >> All right. you have it in your packet. Um, just a couple things. Um, I wasn't quite busy enough, so I decided to join the Kassen Economic Development Authority. I am now a proud member of the EDA for Cassin. Um, I think that ties in really well to some of the goals you have for me. We want people moving here. I need to be a part and be at that that table. So, it's so far it's been good. Um, and then I still didn't have my evenings filled up quite enough, so I decided to become a board member. um and director for the Minnesota FCLA um committee. They needed a sitting superintendent. Um we have a very active uh group as you know. So I am now a board director for them. Um then I didn't think Bob had quite enough work. Um so we are making some changes. You know, as the year has gone on, we've seen comments come in from our community and Bob is always receptive to everything. But I'm adding him to a report like you see from all the administrators and my reasoning behind that is that transparency piece. We answer every question that comes in. We answer that all the time. But to give you guys a tool that you would quickly be able to say someone said, "What's our fund balance or where are we at?" And that happens, right? I want you to have access to expenditures, revenues, things like that. A snapshot um for that transparency piece. So Bob has said yes and and we're going to have that in every single board. Um whenever there's a board report, you will also have this now and I think that makes you better board members being able to do that. Obviously Bob and I are always resources, but that's been an ad. Um and then the other thing just, you know, providing opportunities and kind of showcasing our district. Um you may have noticed Assistant Commissioner Burnham was here. That's a pretty big honor to have someone come to our school because of the amazing things we're doing. Um she really focused on CTE. Every group and every classroom we went into into students gave the speech on what they're learning about the trades about what's going on. It was phenomenal. Then we got down and showcased our infant and child care program. Very rare to have something that amazing. And of course the little could talk, but community act was able to really talk about a program and why it works. Um to say she was impressed with such an understatement. So, um I was just thankful that she came to outstate. I do tend to complain about that a little bit that we focus a lot on the metro and I want these people to come out and see what we're doing and fund us as much as you're funding metro schools because we're doing some pretty great things and she certainly took that back to MD with her. That's why we worked >> and she held a duck >> and she held a duck. She did hold a duck. I literally picked up said here close the door and she did. So >> any questions or comments to >> I I have a comment. I think that it is wildly impressive how integrated you have become into the community so quickly and how you continue to prioritize that. Um I see you flying around. I saw you the other day emptying the garbages in a suit outside the front of the high school. >> Overflowing in fairness, >> but no task is is too small for you. You're always in it. Um all the students are familiar with you as well as all the staff. It's just so impressive. I'm really thankful for it and I can say it speak to also appreciate that your willingness to put that report together for us because I looked over every time I see it. It's very consistent and gives us something to stand on if somebody has questions. >> All right, let's move on to administrators leadership reports. Any questions or comments or >> I have a question. Um, Mr. school field. I know that there's quite a few field trips going on at the elementary. How's all of it going? We'll blink and it'll be >> made cry yet. >> Yeah. >> No, it's going really well. We've lucked out with weather. >> Good. >> Really well this spring, thankfully. I know you're a farmer, you're really wishing for rain. We're really happy it's not going to rain this week with track and field going on and field trips next week and stuff are looking pretty good with temps in the 80s and stuff. So, so far so good. >> Awesome. >> Yeah. >> Um I just have a question comment. I think it was in teaching and learning um about the Native American class grant. Can you talk a little bit more about that? >> So, uh one of the new statutes we get to go ahead with for next year is an ethnic studies course at the high school level and our social department has just been brilliant with at how do we incorporate some of our other standards that focus on our Native American history in the area into that course. And so the ethnic studies course will be focused on Dakota and people. And um we applied for a grant from MDE to help get that course running with some additional professional development uh and resources to make sure we're doing it well as we kick off a new thing. And we're excited to be awarded some monies to Awesome. Thank you. >> I've got a question about the double bowling for for our casting two casting kids, right? How's the double bowling portion work? I guess >> they are randomly matched. >> Okay. >> So, they're put so we practice with the field all of a team. So, we're all one team and then they're in physical disabilities, cognitive and I believe that they are randomly matched with a pair for doubles. >> Nice. How long have you had have the bowling be going on? >> This year we've had more than we've had in the past. >> So yeah, I think next year more because we did the whole class to go watch them when they qualified since it was in Rochester and so a lot of them were like I want to do that. So I have the feeling um they went home and we'll probably see interest next year. So >> for the kind of like the track and field that you guys had right that move around to different schools each year. >> Yep. >> Okay. >> So it will be here not next year but the following. >> We've had it before. It was wonderful. and our honors national honor society students come down and volunteer welcome back to us. >> Thank you. >> How many students participate in the in the activity? Yeah, the activity day. Oh gosh, we talking about because our middle school is seven. We take kindergarten through 8th grade. I'm not going to take half of that room. So, we take them all. We had Oh gosh, we must have had 19 students that went into healthcare professionals and teachers teachers, our teacher went. So, our adoptive fire teacher, Mr. Gro, went because he's working with them all year on their skills. And so, it's a lot of fun. The first part, even if you can only go for like the first hour, you get the majority of it. because it's the parade part and then um the races are pretty quick and then it's activities and they just circle around and do parachute and house day. It is a lot of fun with I just had up the question. Uh, now we're winding down on 25 26 school year. Um, and this is actually probably your last report. We not come back next year. So, >> this is their last one. >> And one thing we do appreciate all your reports. Uh, I know sometimes we don't have a lot of questions, but we do read them. And my philosophy on a well-written report is you answer all our questions. Um, but uh, my question is looking back over the this last what you what are some of the biggest challenges you have had and then also what are you looking forward to the most next year and try to keep it under 20 minutes. Thank you. And if your if your biggest challenge was superintendent, speaking off games, but Just start the challenge at the beginning of the year. We had to task oursel with trying to create the most vibrant positive culture probably more specifically the high school that's just doing different creative things which are group and senior leaders get to introduce the freshman in the building and so they did an awesome job for theming But that challenge is probably the one carry over to the next year too of keeping that going and finding new creative ways to do that and also just that positive culture throughout and the school year of those January February months where it's Um, and so we know they're super busy with their own things and jobs and you know we offer hockey which us probably We focus a lot on cross department cross training. Um, so that as a small team, one person is gone and personum. has been a really great thing for this year. I think one of the most challenging pieces really digital access requirements that have been part of the type requirements that are coming up. There's just a year extension on that really good and it's more than just really changing the habits of your staff members doing some training support the next year and a half start looking forward to um looking at some different curriculums to use within the special education department and I'm really excited about some new ones that are out there that we can use in our DC cognitive groups that um should be engaging and help us collect data more on students and their growth. biggest challenge this year I would say is probably behaviors social education in all buildings probably my biggest challenge and just making sure we're getting all the paperwork following compliance making sure that we're doing what's right for the students they have the positive support plans just that part of it I really appreciate team across just the district at the school that especially this team us working together our students in a positive way. So that's definitely a highlight for me is constantly working together also that extend to our elementary school education and so forth. Um As far as one of the challenges, I think it's just the constant battle of engagements. You know, there's something new every every day, every week. There's a new Tik Tok dance that I never knew existed. And so, it's just trying to keep keep your keep yourself above the trends and providing authentic engaging instruction to our students that ultimately helps them build success for the future. So, from middle school perspective, focused on building those habits those habits in middle school follow them in high school. So that that's our focus and that's struggle with things like that but it's a good challenge there. I would say my biggest challenge here at elementary was being new role and having a brand new partner with Sarah both being in brand new positions trying to learn things as we go. Um, but I can't say enough about our staff at the elementary and how well they all team together. They just show up every day and do what's best for kids and uh the momentum we have from this year and previous years moving forward just people just show up and do amazing stuff in that building. Um, you know, I felt pretty comfortable stepping into that role having great mentors all around me here. I can't thank Josh and everyone else enough with all their help this year. anytime I had a question or needed guidance on something the full range twice and someone was answering me had answer from me or said well I don't know this but this person will connect them we got you Jessica same thing all the curriculum questions that I had you know her experience at the elementary level this role was just astounding so that was my challenge but you know sport I had I felt like went pretty well for next year and just continue what we're And it's really exciting to know all 730 students at the elementary. Um they knew my name really fast. I didn't learn theirs quite as fast. Um but it's fun, you know, coming down here for games or whatever else or know we're buzzing through and stopping a quick trip on our way home from Curry game with my daughter and we step on the car and there's three elementary kids. Scar, what's up? My eighth grade daughter's like I get it home. I get it here. I just can't see you. No, I appreciate it. It's been a great year and uh moving forward to next year. I was biggest challenge was the units, right? Like the not knowing what you don't know elements that come with any new role and as the year went on the things that come up. was training me on how to be the district assessment coordinator. That was a lot of move. Um so we're excited for that for next year. Next year overall I'm just excited to continue some momentum and we processes and things we started this year and be able to kind of dig into them a little deeper not as a new in the role type of thing. Um and we'll have two new comments next year. My little the little Mark ladies are coming this way. So we're all enough. >> Mr. I know what is your biggest challenge? >> Um, well, obviously it's always the funding, all the different state reporting requirements and trying to stay on top of those. Um, I would say the thing that I'm probably looking most forward to is having the same superintendent in a row. >> Two years in a row, >> Mr. I am surprised Mr. Larson didn't say shadowing the superintendent. >> We did enjoy having you in some of the community meetings and stuff. >> Thank you. I appreciate it. >> I have one more question. Not to put you on the spot, Mr. Larson. Um, but one of the things that I have always been proud of and I found out when my kids were in um preschool here was the student wellness committee and how we really focused on not just academic growth of students but how they were doing overall, how their well-being was. And it wasn't a committee. It is comprised of parents and educators and community members. And it wasn't just to highlight what we were doing well. It was where we need to get stronger. Um I thought that that was such a cool piece um for a school district to share and as a parent appreciated it and even more now as a board member knowing how unique that is. And I just wanted to know if you wanted to touch I know you've led it for quite a few years I think since it started. Right. >> Well so it kind of morphed from used to be called EPCC and that was bullying prevention >> core committee >> core committee and that was led by Matusa and then it shifted maybe my second or third year um and again it's kind of shifted again as far as um with with statutes and mental health things that we have to focus on shifting over to community ed because it ties in not just obviously the social emotional piece but food uh you know our our social workers at all of those things are intertwined into that now. Um and so yeah, it's definitely something that I that I love to lead and it's especially at the middle school level with with mental health and you know having students look at their phones and realize, wow, I'm on like screen time is eight hours a day, you know, and then having those conversations and what's needed, what's required. Um you know, it's definitely something at the middle school. I mean, we still embed those opportunities within our social emotional learning within our common time advisory classes. And so, um, those things are still embedded. It just looks a little different. Um, but yeah, I'm always open to new ideas and seeing what else we could do to at least involve, um, the parent perspective as well. >> So, this year it'll be different. It'll be more a community. Is that what you're saying? >> Yes. Um, Jenny, I want to with her, but I know that she is is leading that as far as >> it's going to be staff, students, and community. >> Well, that's awesome. Well, thank you for all the years of leading it. >> Yeah. No, it's Yeah, >> it is so incredible. And I love I noticed you mentioned it in here that um we're checking in and we want to make sure our students are well and we're doing stuff. >> Yeah, we have our student wellness survey which should be done by the end of the week. And so, we use that a measure measurement of really how effective we are within our programming. Do students, you know, do they feel safe at school? Do they have a trusted adult? Those are things that are important to us. Not just middle school, but all schools is we want to show that feels students feel connected. Students feel connected. Um it's going to improve their academics, their behavioral health, their social well-being. So all of those things is just really a focus and it's a testament to what we're able to do here as a school to provide first. >> I totally agree. It's a lot of walking the walk. We don't just talk about it. We're measuring it and changes. >> Absolutely. >> It's not easy. >> Every day is a new day. >> Yeah. Do we have So the board used to have a committee that would go. Is that shifting as far as >> I think we'll still invite board reps to it once Jenny decides how she wants >> I think it was activities maybe >> student activities >> so they would be invited but um they couldn't always make it so maybe we could just see if anyone's interested or the community I wanted to go on >> I think it's important so I'm not sure which is by statute a board member has to be perfectly ready.
