[0:00] [Applause] [0:03] [Music] [0:04] [Applause] [0:05] [Music] [0:05] [Applause] [0:08] [Music] [0:11] [Applause] [0:13] [Music] [0:16] hello and thanks for tuning in to [0:18] Bloomington Today let's take a look at [0:20] the latest news in Bloomington the city [0:22] is looking for your input on updates to [0:24] franchise fees since 2015 the city has [0:28] used franchise fees to preserve and [0:30] expand its pavement management program [0:32] upgrade trails and sidewalks to be ADA [0:34] accessible and is now considering adding [0:37] retaining wall improvements and [0:39] sustainability programs community [0:41] feedback will be critical in this [0:43] decision attend the open house at Civic [0:46] Plaza on Thursday April 17th from 5 to [0:48] 6:00 p.m for more information visit the [0:51] link on your screen construction season [0:54] is coming up and that means continued [0:56] work on [0:57] I494 learn everything you need to know [0:59] about the upcoming construction impacts [1:01] in a webinar on Tuesday April 15th the [1:04] construction manager from Mandot will [1:06] share details on the different projects [1:08] happening in 2025 get registered via [1:11] Zoom at the link on your screen the city [1:13] is accepting applications for the [1:15] Blooming Arts Partnerships Grant Program [1:18] the program provides support to [1:19] nonprofit arts organizations artists and [1:22] arts related educational institutions [1:24] that make a strong impact in Bloomington [1:27] new and returning applicants are welcome [1:29] to apply eligible applicants include [1:31] organizations or artists whose primary [1:33] mission is to produce or present [1:35] performing arts such as dance theater [1:38] opera spoken word and music or visual [1:41] arts primarily within Bloomington [1:43] applications are due by April 22nd learn [1:46] more and apply at the link on your [1:48] screen earlier this year the Schneider [1:50] Theater received a big upgrade that you [1:52] can't see and now luckily you can't hear [1:57] [Music] [2:00] either the original HVAC fan for [2:03] Schneider Theater was starting to fail [2:06] and was generating a lot of unwanted [2:08] noise in the space so we worked very [2:11] closely with facilities to develop a new [2:14] model so it just allows the space to [2:17] cool more efficiently to circulate air [2:19] more efficiently but also it's much much [2:22] quieter and that's important for this [2:24] because theaters are very acoustically [2:26] sensitive spaces so when you're trying [2:29] to amplify sound with microphones when [2:31] you're trying to record sound you don't [2:34] want any background noise if at all [2:36] possible and so that was very unwanted [2:38] noise that was disrupting a lot of the [2:41] performances center for the Arts staff [2:43] say this new fan provides a much more [2:45] acoustically friendly space for all [2:47] events happening in the Schneider [2:49] donations are now being accepted for the [2:52] 30th annual Bookham the used book sale [2:54] is put on by the Bloomington Crime [2:56] Prevention Association revenue generated [2:58] by the sale will be awarded as grants to [3:01] Bloomington organizations for [3:02] crimerevention activities this year the [3:05] sale will take place June 7th through [3:07] the 21st at the address on your screen [3:10] additional details like what to donate [3:12] and where can be found at [3:15] bcpamn.org that's a wrap on this week's [3:17] buzz if you would like to see more [3:19] stories highlighting people places and [3:21] projects in Bloomington watch other [3:23] features right here on our YouTube [3:25] channel thanks for watching
