[0:01] Today we are at our Bloomington
Visitor Center, located
[0:04] just off Interstate 494
near the Mall of America and the airport.
[0:09] And I'm here today
to take you on a quick sneak peek of our
[0:12] We Are Water
exhibit hosted until this coming February.
[0:16] We Are Water is a free, interactive
exhibit that explores our connection
[0:20] to water through stories and experiences
from communities throughout Minnesota,
[0:24] while inviting visitors
to contribute their own water stories.
[0:28] Engage with stories from members
of our community to discover examples
[0:31] of how water plays a crucial role
in our work, play, and day to day life.
[0:36] Interact with exhibits
about what makes this watershed unique,
[0:40] and learn about ways
[0:41] people are addressing challenges
to keep water healthy in Minnesota.
[0:45] There are also puzzles,
[0:46] puppets, and kids books so the littlest
learners can participate too.
[0:50] The exhibit both celebrates
water and addresses many of the challenges
[0:54] we face as Minnesotans
[0:55] in order to ensure we continue
to have healthy and clean water.
[1:00] As Minnesotans, we are fortunate to have
a relative abundance of clean water,
[1:04] but because of this fortune,
it is our responsibility to be good
[1:07] water stewards so that we can have clean
water for years to come.
[1:11] Minnesota serves as the headwaters
of the Mississippi River,
[1:14] and so our water decisions impact
millions of people downriver.
[1:18] We Are Water Minnesota
[1:20] has the support
of the National Endowment
[1:21] for the Humanities, four Minnesota state
agencies, and the Minnesota
[1:25] Historical Society. Here at Minnesota
Valley National Wildlife Refuge,
[1:28] we love water, and we know
the importance of it in our communities.
[1:32] We hope you come by to check us out
and experience the exhibit for yourself.
