[0:00] [Music] [0:00] hi my name is Kylie Wong and we're here [0:02] at the Minnesota Valley National [0:04] Wildlife Refuge here to talk about [0:06] nature photography nature photography is [0:08] a really fun way to get outside and [0:12] capture really unique moments and share [0:15] them with others or just an opportunity [0:17] to be creative and have fun outside most [0:21] cameras will have a sort of grid on the [0:24] screen you can use what we call the rule [0:27] of thirds which is where what whatever [0:30] you're taking a picture of instead of [0:31] keeping it in the center of your picture [0:34] you'd want it either on the lines or [0:36] where the lines meet another thing [0:38] that's really fun is getting shots from [0:41] different angles and perspectives so [0:43] getting shots from up high or down low [0:45] and seeing things from an angle you [0:47] wouldn't normally see them at can make [0:49] for some really unique photos another [0:51] tip you could use is try and find lines [0:55] and angles and what we call leading [0:58] lines is where you have lines sort of [1:00] leading to the subject of your picture [1:03] you can also try and completely fill the [1:06] frame with your subject is a good way to [1:09] really highlight something [1:11] important so with the camera especially [1:14] when you're outside photographing nature [1:16] usually you won't want to use Flash if [1:18] you're doing nighttime photography a lot [1:20] of cameras have different modes for that [1:22] also if you're trying to capture animals [1:24] or things that are in motion there are [1:26] usually different settings and modes for [1:27] that on most cameras as well one of the [1:30] keys to doing nature photography [1:32] specifically is having a lot of patience [1:35] you might have to stay in one spot and [1:37] be very still and quiet for a while [1:40] before you'll get a good shot but it's [1:42] always worth it in the end and nature [1:45] will come to you if you're being still [1:47] and quiet you can get some really good [1:49] shots like that at the Refuge this [1:52] spring we are offering some nature [1:53] novice nature photography classes where [1:56] we will provide you with point and shoot [1:58] cameras and you will get the opportunity [2:00] need to try them out and try taking [2:02] pictures out in nature no experience is [2:04] needed it'll go over everything you need [2:06] to know about taking pictures if you [2:08] have never used a camera before and then [2:10] if you'd like we also can print your [2:12] photos out for you to take home with you [2:14] to get into nature photography you do [2:16] not need to have any experience or any [2:19] fancy camera equipment you can use [2:21] whatever you have whether it's the most [2:23] basic point and shoot camera or even [2:26] your phone you can still get some great [2:28] photos for more information about our [2:30] nature photography classes this spring [2:33] go to the events …
