[0:35] Hello, everybody. [0:36] I'm Superintendent Eric Melbye. [0:38] December is here, and you can feel iteverywhere. [0:40] The hustle, the hope and a wholelot of heart across our schools. [0:45] There are also plenty of memorable momentstaking place in our thriving middle schools [0:49] Middle school is an unforgettable timein a student's education, [0:53] when learning evolves into figuring outwhat a student's interests are [0:56] and what paths they want to pursueas they prepare for high school. [0:59] Each of our middle schools offers its ownunique blend of academic and enrichment [1:03] opportunities. In our Computer Science [1:05] Immersion programs at Olson, Valley View, and New Code Academy, [1:09] middle schoolers solve real world challenges and experience [1:12] deeper learning in core subjectslike art and social studies. [1:15] Our Gifted and Talentedprograms are tailored to students [1:18] with strong capabilities academicallyand in the arts. [1:21] For example, several of our Nobelgifted students [1:24] took to the stage in Valley View'sfall production of Peter Pan. [1:27] And our many clubs, sports and activitiesput students in impressive [1:30] leadership roles at a young age. [1:32] I got a chance to make [1:33] a special appearance on Oak Grove Middle’sHusky News, a morning news show [1:37] that's run by students, from the productionbooth to the anchor desk. [1:40] Here we have Dr. Melbye.Tell us a little about yourself. [1:44] A little bit about myself. [1:46] Well,I started as your superintendent in 2021. [1:50] I had a great experience.The interview was awesome. [1:52] Seeing those students work, the cameras,the microphones, doing the interview. [1:56] Very impressive. [1:57] I'm so proud to see our young studentsemerge into who they are [2:00] and who they want to become, [2:01] thanks to our caring and dedicated staffleading these programs and offerings.
