[0:00] [Music] [0:00] i'm dancing on my own Dancing on my own [0:03] Moves up as I go Moves up as I go People [0:06] ask me that all the time What's your [0:08] favorite song And it's like that's [0:10] impossible to do I think the most [0:12] special part is the support that [0:13] everybody gives each other We understand [0:16] each other We understand where we're at [0:19] physically and mentally at this time of [0:22] our life Alive and kicking I loved [0:24] saying it's an organization set up to [0:26] empower seniors to inspire everybody So [0:29] through the power of rock music this [0:31] cast of 33 individuals aged 62 to 90 [0:34] changed people's perspectives on what [0:35] aging looks like That's what this was [0:37] created for A place for people who love [0:40] to sing and love to perform and to show [0:42] that just because we hit that 65 mark [0:45] and above We still can perform We still [0:49] can do these things that we've honed [0:52] these skills for many many years I'm not [0:54] scared to be seen I make no apologies [0:59] This is me What is most rewarding for me [1:02] and fulfilling for me is performing in [1:04] front of a live audience I literally [1:07] feed off of their energy So the more [1:09] animated and active they are They smile [1:12] they tap they do those sorts of things [1:14] that just feeds my ability to be an even [1:16] better performer [1:19] I enjoy all of it but most importantly [1:22] the camaraderie It feels it's like [1:24] family It's very much very welcoming [1:26] group and I do like the music too We get [1:29] to flash back to my younger days So [1:35] this year it's alive and kick in 15 the [1:37] reunion tour So we're looking back on 14 [1:40] years of music and bringing back kind of [1:41] those chestnuts those songs that have [1:44] been impactful within our journey and [1:46] sharing them again with a little [1:47] different perspective If you're new to [1:48] Live and Kicking you're going to hear [1:49] music from Amy Winehouse to Taylor Swift [1:52] to Led Zeppelin to our favorite Queen [1:55] And in the perspective of of an elder [1:59] individual all of a sudden these songs [2:00] that were maybe sung by individuals in [2:02] their 20s or 30s take a whole different [2:03] meaning If you're looking for an [2:06] entertaining group of performers who [2:08] happen to be seniors and really get into [2:12] the performing arts even though we're [2:14] amateurs you want to check us out If you [2:17] like rock music you definitely want to [2:19] check us out Be prepared to be surprised [2:21] We're not some you know isn't that cute [2:24] Grandma's choir kind of thing We [2:26] actually try to kick it up a little bit [2:28] and rock the house somewhat So be [2:31] prepared to have a good time It's fun [2:33] You'll laugh and you're encouraged to [2:35] come and clap along with us and and just [2:39] simply enjoy yourself You may go "Oh [2:42] it's it's an old people choir." No [2:44] actually it's the absolute opposite It's [2:46] a group of people regardless of their [2:48] age who are using rock music which by [2:50] definition is meant to break the rules [2:53] is meant to blow up the system on how we [2:55] currently see it and to consider new [2:57] things And who benefits from that People [2:58] from the age of 1 to 101 [3:02] [Music]
