[0:00] I'm thrilled to be here to support this [0:03] project. It goes handinhand with the HA [0:06] mission of creating stable and inclusive [0:10] communities through safe and dignified [0:12] housing choices. [0:14] This is the start of a much larger [0:16] project by the H to bring some more [0:18] single family development. [0:19] We are on Park Avenue here in [0:21] Bloomington, 9030 and 9036. We're here [0:24] for a wall raising. [0:26] One, two, three, lift. [0:29] We're excited to celebrate the wall [0:31] raising and the opening of what will be [0:33] two single family homes each with an [0:34] attached accessory dwelling unit [0:36] provided at an affordable rate for [0:38] families in the area. Because of the [0:40] current climate and some of the [0:41] challenges with developing housing, it [0:43] requires a lot of different partnerships [0:44] to make projects like this work. This [0:46] project, for example, is a partnership [0:48] through the HR, the housing and [0:49] redevelopment authority, support from [0:51] the city council. It includes Twin [0:53] Cities Habitat for Humanity acting as [0:54] the general contractor, the construction [0:56] partner for this project. Also, Homes [0:58] Within Reach, who is providing this land [1:00] as a land trust to keep it affordable [1:01] long term. There's funding provided by [1:03] multiple different partners as well. [1:05] Metropolitan Council provided a grant [1:07] for this project. So, did Minnesota [1:08] housing through their impact fund. The [1:10] HA also provided support. [1:12] Each house is four bedroomedroom, two [1:14] bath, and each ADU is onebedroom, one [1:17] bath. We're excited to continue our [1:19] tradition of uh building really high [1:21] quality affordable housing. The houses [1:22] are going to meet or exceed all the [1:24] Energy Star standards. We use quality [1:26] building materials. Uh volunteers are [1:28] led by an amazing team of uh site [1:31] supervisors and Americanore members to [1:33] show them how to do everything on site. [1:34] The concept and the idea and our hope is [1:37] that we can help generational families [1:41] move into these properties where maybe [1:43] mom, dad, and the young kids can be in [1:46] the single family home and the [1:48] grandparents can be in the detached [1:50] unit. We are utilizing tools within our [1:52] ground lease to ensure that if they do [1:55] become a rental unit that they will also [1:57] benefit workforce folks. The homeowner [2:00] will be required to price the rents at [2:01] an affordable rent established by HUD [2:04] and also income qualified tenant that [2:06] would be in that property. I'm really [2:08] excited to see a project in my [2:09] neighborhood. It's great to see the city [2:11] collaborating with other organizations [2:13] to bring affordable housing into my [2:14] area. I'm going to gain two new [2:16] neighbors. like not just one, there's [2:18] going to be two families that are going [2:20] to be able to move into this these [2:22] properties. And I just think it just [2:24] brings our community more together when [2:26] you're seeing this project, when you're [2:27] seeing the city involved in a project in [2:29] your neighborhood. To me, it shows [2:30] value. It shows that they really care [2:32] and they're paying attention to all [2:33] parts of Bloomington and not just one. [2:35] If anyone has questions about the [2:37] project or has interest in purchasing [2:39] one of the homes, feel free to reach out [2:41] to Homes Within Reach. Home ownership is [2:43] a dream of so many families both in [2:45] Bloomington, outside of Bloomington, and [2:47] across the nation. And so part of the [2:48] goal of this project is to provide an [2:50] option for housing that people are able [2:52] to afford and pay for and live within [2:54] their means to attain that dream of [2:55] affordable home ownership.
