[0:00] 6. [music] [0:07] >> Elev has been [music] in Bloomington for [0:10] 13 years now and we just moved to this [0:12] new location. So, this is our 14th [0:14] season. We teach everything from ballet, [0:16] tap, jazz, hiphop. We teach [0:19] contemporary, musical theater, [0:21] acrobatics, [music] and everyone from [0:23] two to 18. I grew up dancing at my mom's [0:27] dance studio [music] in small little [0:28] Detroit Lakes. And then I came to the [0:31] University of Minnesota and got my [0:32] degree in dance. And then I kept dancing [0:35] [music] and teaching and I was reminded [0:38] that I love teaching a lot through [0:40] [music] all that. And so then I decided [0:42] that all these ideas that I had, I [0:45] [music] wanted to put them together and [0:47] create Elevate. [0:49] So we used to be located on the west [0:51] side off of Old Shakape in Normaddale. [0:53] We needed to find a space that was a [0:56] little bit more visible. What's so cool [0:58] about this space is [music] that it is [1:00] built for us and it's just such a great [1:03] use [music] of space. The windows and [1:05] the light that comes in here, I think [1:07] it's refreshing. So, this is like our [1:09] next [music] chapter and I think having [1:11] this feel of the space has made it be [1:14] refresh a new start. Barb Wolf has been [1:17] awesome. It [music] was last year when [1:19] we were still in the other space. I [1:20] reached out to city council and then [1:22] they immediately kind of directed me to [1:24] her and then I mean it was amazing [1:25] because [music] I was not expecting a [1:28] quick response and so she got on the [1:31] phone with me I think the next like day [1:33] or two and so working with a broker [1:35] looking at different locations [1:37] throughout Bloomington but one of the [1:39] areas where we had vacancies in a [1:41] neighborhood commercial node which would [1:43] [music] be a great space for her to be [1:45] uh the zoning didn't quite fit uh so we [1:48] worked with planning staff [1:50] to allow [music] for a dance studio to [1:52] go into that new location. City staff [1:55] also worked with Next Stage and [music] [1:58] one of our business adviserss, Heromi. I [2:00] met Britney at Elev when they were [2:03] looking for a new space and they needed [2:05] [music] some moving cost and start up [2:07] the operation cost. So, Next Stage came [2:09] in to help her put together [music] the [2:12] uh loan portfolio and we were able to [2:14] help her with the loan so she can move [2:16] in. [music] You know, I expected a lot [2:18] of bumps because there's always bumps [2:20] along the way when it comes to moving [2:22] into new space [music] and, you know, [2:23] making sure that we're abiding by all [2:25] the city code and all that, but it was [2:28] very smooth and [music] they are [2:30] continuously being really supportive and [2:32] awesome and I feel like I have a really [2:35] good support system and [music] I can [2:37] reach out to them about any questions [2:38] and they're they're quick to get back to [2:40] me. So, it's awesome. If you're [music] [2:42] interested in dance, Elev is a great [2:44] spot because it's not just about dance [2:47] here. We want to build confident young [2:48] dancers [music] who can not just go on [2:51] stage and be brave, but maybe go out [2:53] into the world and and take [music] that [2:54] to other places.
