[0:00] Kassie is just a really funny person, really relatable person [0:03] that you can just always go to and she's always just really open. [0:06] I just feel like if you really need someone to talk to, [0:08] you could always talk to Kassie. [0:09] My name is Kassie Ariza. [0:10] I'm a family and student advocate at Kennedy High School. [0:13] I work with them one on one on supporting them with academic resources [0:18] and just being a person they can count on and be there for them as well. [0:21] Like hold them accountable with behaviors, attendance and grades. [0:25] Being a bilingual Spanish speaker, our role is a lot to help [0:28] and provide tools and resources for our Hispanic Latino community. [0:31] I'm a prodigy of Kennedy as well. [0:33] I graduated here, I'm alumni from 2011. [0:36] We did have some support, but I never really had a person to go to. [0:40] I think it's an important role, especially as a Hispanic. [0:43] There's not many people that you can come to with your language, [0:47] and I feel like I've seen a lot of families get very comfortable with Kassie. [0:50] She just makes it feel very welcoming. [0:51] I've always felt. [0:52] That safe spot with Kassie as my teacher in this school, the person I can go to. [0:57] So I feel like Kassie has played a big role in my four years. [1:00] Throughout high school. [1:01] She was welcoming when I first came like as a freshman. [1:04] She made me like get a little more used to being in school [1:08] and she's a reason why I got like back on track. [1:11] I'm in charge of the school pantry here. [1:13] A lot of it is [1:14] donations based from our community provide resources for our students [1:17] who are I need, or families who just need a little extra help. [1:21] I feel like every year I always have a successful story to go to. [1:25] My motivation are my students and just being there for them and [1:29] being that person for them.
