[0:07] We’re having a Industry and Innovation fair. [0:11] First time, this type of thing. [0:13] Kind of a career fair. [0:15] However, it's [0:16] more of an exploration and exposure event [0:19] for our students [0:20] from 9th grade to 12th grade. [0:22] I've gotten to load a dump truck [0:23] with an excavator, [0:25] by digging some dirt out of the ground. [0:27] Driving a semi truck. [0:29] There you go. [0:30] And now go straight ahead. [0:32] There was a simulation outside [0:34] with painting. [0:36] Favorite was probably the flying [0:37] simulator or the welding. [0:39] I thought, okay, simulations are great, [0:42] exposure is great, [0:44] but then what do I do next? [0:46] And, [0:47] I wanted to connect the dots [0:48] for our kids. [0:58] And are you the kind of person who, [1:00] say, attention to detail? [1:02] You'd be a perfect electrician. [1:03] You'd be a perfect painter. [1:04] You'd be a perfect engineer. [1:06] I mean, these are things that they don't [1:08] they don't know. [1:09] And so by experiencing [1:11] going through these trailers, [1:12] they're going to [1:13] they're going to talk to the people [1:14] who actually make that kind of money [1:16] They're all in here [1:17] to kind of detail what these kids [1:20] could be doing in their future [1:22] and how to get there. [1:24] Like, I didn't expect a college [1:25] fair like, [1:26] we can actually do stuff [1:27] and learn about it. [1:28] I thought a college fair [1:28] was just come here [1:29] and just looking at stuff. [1:30] But now we found out [1:31] that we can actually do the things, [1:33] and I was like, wow. [1:34] I feel like for me as a junior, [1:36] it gives me [1:37] more opportunity to see what is in [1:40] store for me in the future. [1:42] Oh, I think it's good [1:43] because I feel like, [1:43] we got an opportunity [1:44] that a lot of other kids [1:45] don't have, out there in the world. [1:47] So to have [1:48] this opportunity is great to experience [1:50] some of the jobs out there. [1:51] For me, it's [1:52] not just a one and done type of a thing. [1:55] It is an ongoing constant where we want [1:58] we want our students [1:59] to not just drop off. [2:01] We’re supporting them all the way through. [2:03] I want to at least know [2:04] that we did our best [2:06] in showing them what they could be [2:09] and how to be successful [2:10] after they graduate high school here [2:12] at Jefferson and Kennedy.
