[0:01] As our climate continues to change,  the importance of our precious resource, water,   [0:05] is more important now than ever. Inside our home  we decided to convert some of our appliances to   [0:11] more water efficient appliances and that included  taking advantage of the Bloomington water rebate program. [0:18] One of the largest usages of water in Bloomington residentially is summer outdoor water usage. [0:24] So, one of the strategies that we've used  as a family is to use rain barrels. We use our   [0:30] seven rain barrels to water all of our plants in our  yard and we even use it to fill our swimming   [0:35] pool in the springtime and the fall. One of the  other strategies that we've implemented outside   [0:40] our home for water conservation is planting of  deeply rooted plants that can tolerate drought. [0:46] So, the deeper that the roots are within the  ground the less water that they need.   [0:50] We've also implemented smart mowing where we do not  mow our lawn if it's not projected to rain to   [0:58] avoid having to water our grass that we do have. [1:01] So, we're asking you Bloomington to join the water pledge along with your family friends and neighbors [1:07] to help us to reduce water consumption in Bloomington and to preserve our most precious resource, water, [1:13] for generations to come.
