[0:00] this was a scene in January 1995 when [0:03] council member H became mayor h i Coral [0:06] H to swear that I will support the [0:10] Constitution of the United States and of [0:13] the state of Minnesota and Faithfully [0:16] discharg the duties of the office of the [0:18] mayor of the city ofing had spent those [0:22] years of serving the community in the [0:25] city and those advisory boards and [0:27] commissions I knew the city well I knew [0:29] it was my time to serve as mayor and I [0:32] felt ready and prepared P was a very [0:35] visible official you often saw her at [0:37] the city's annual River rendevu Event [0:39] various Community Awards ceremonies [0:41] grand openings and visiting with [0:43] citizens from foreign lands P says she [0:45] relinquished her full-time job in order [0:47] to completely devote her time to being a [0:49] good public servant good morning and [0:52] welcome to the mayor's March for [0:54] mammograms you think what I learned in [0:57] serving as mayor on the council it's [1:00] very rare that you have a beginning and [1:02] an ending in city government and in city [1:04] life I would like to introduce mayor [1:07] Coral H the first and only woman to [1:10] serve as mayor of the city of [1:11] Bloomington so I [1:13] represented public [1:16] health and trying to limit access to [1:20] Tobacco to youth everyone says this but [1:23] it truly comes from the depth for me is [1:27] that it really has been an honor and a [1:31] privilege to serve in Bloomington it is [1:33] an experience that comes to few people [1:35] to serve as mayor and it really holds a [1:38] very very special place in my life and I [1:41] just feel very honored to have been able [1:44] to do it [1:46] [Music]
