September 17th there was an ice breaking [0:31] at Bloomington Ice Garden to kick off [0:33] construction on the first phase of the [0:35] Bloomington Ice Garden modernization [0:37] project this first phase is the new ice [0:40] plant with major upgrades planned for [0:42] all three ranks in addition there will [0:45] be accessibility improvements new locker [0:47] rooms a new roof and more big will [0:50] remain fully open to skating and hockey [0:53] throughout the winter season with a [0:54] shutdown scheduled in mid-march of next [0:56] year the Ice breing event follows an [0:59] open house held in July where [1:00] stakeholders heard from the project team [1:02] and got a look at concept design plans I [1:05] love the fact that there's been so much [1:07] planning and and time and effort that's [1:09] put into it you can really see with the [1:10] designs that they came up with there [1:13] wasn't a huge footprint for them to work [1:14] with we're not they're not able to [1:15] expand the space they're not able to [1:17] knock down outside walls and and build [1:20] brand new there was a lot of [1:21] retrofitting and and real creative [1:24] thinking that went into this I feel like [1:25] they took a lot of time to make sure [1:27] that they they got this right and that [1:29] it's it truly is a modern new [1:31] Bloomington rank the renovations are [1:33]
