[0:00] my name is Rodney Whan and I'm a fire [0:01] captain and a paramedic with Bloomington [0:03] Fire and we do more than fire We also do [0:06] EMS as well Another thing that we do [0:08] typically is in cardiac emergencies or [0:11] people that are in cardiac arrest We're [0:12] able to take their airways and breathe [0:14] for them when they're unable to breathe [0:16] for themselves So we'll just demonstrate [0:18] here We typically train at our fire [0:19] stations on how we do that So Alex is [0:22] going to breathe there with the BVM Then [0:24] I'm going to take our UE scope here And [0:26] what's cool about this UE scope it's [0:28] able to record what we do and uh we can [0:30] also give ourselves feedback on if we [0:32] miss intubations and we can practice so [0:34] we can get better at it Now I'm going to [0:35] have Alec remove the BVM Basically I'm [0:37] trying to get my tube into the trachea [0:39] so I can take the airway and breathe for [0:41] the patient when they're down Now that [0:43] we have our airway secure we're going to [0:45] listen to lung sounds and make sure we [0:47] don't have air in our stomach Here at [0:48] Bloomington Fire it's important for us [0:50] to stay consistent on our trainings [0:52] because seconds matter when it comes to [0:53] saving someone's life
