[0:16] Hello, and thanks for tuning in to Bloomington today. [0:18] Let's take a look at the latest news in Bloomington. [0:21] Share your feedback on the 2026 budget. [0:24] Each year, the city Council approves a budget to fund city services [0:27] including police, fire, public works, parks and recreation and more. [0:32] At the November 24th meeting, the City Council reviewed the 2026 [0:36] general Fund budget and proposed tax levy and heard resident feedback. [0:40] The current proposed levy sits at 7.48%. [0:44] Bloomington's truth in taxation [0:46] Public hearing is scheduled for the council meeting on December 8th, [0:49] followed by the approval of the final 2026 tax levy and budget on December 15th. [0:54] If you can't make it to the December 8th public hearing, [0:57] you can provide feedback online at blm.mn/budgetfeedback. [1:02] There are multiple ways to sign up for a new garbage cart size. [1:05] In November, the city approved garbage rate changes for 2026. [1:09] Price differences [1:10] between cart sizes will increase, meaning smaller carts will cost less. [1:15] If you would like to change your cart size. [1:17] You can complete the form online at blm.mn/garbage. [1:21] Or call (952) 563-8726. [1:26] Carts will be delivered in waves to allow the haulers [1:29] enough time to purchase new carts and plan efficient delivery. [1:32] Your new rate will take effect based on the date your request is submitted. [1:37] If you submit a change request by December 15th, [1:40] your cart will arrive by end of March 2026. [1:44] If you submit a change request by February 16th, your cart will arrive in April. [1:48] Organics recycling carts [1:49] will be delivered within 1 to 2 weeks of submitting a request.
