[0:00] (gentle music) [0:02] - My vision for this place [0:04] has always been to show the beautiful side of Greek food. [0:08] I'm Dino Contolatis, and we are at Gyropolis, [0:10] at 90th and Penn. [0:12] As you walk into the restaurant, [0:13] what you'll see is a brand new space, [0:16] but we kept the original building. [0:18] - The city worked with Dino on redeveloping this parcel [0:22] and expanding this existing business. [0:24] (metallic clanking) [0:27] There used to be a old gas station [0:30] that had sat empty for 10 years adjacent to the site, [0:32] and we helped with the removal of the building [0:35] by providing tax increment financing, [0:37] and helped the owner secure some grants [0:39] to help facilitate the redevelopment of the property. [0:41] - Just walking through, you could see, [0:44] we have our soda station, [0:47] and you're walking through to the dining space. [0:50] We can see four times as many people as we could before [0:53] in our smaller space. [0:54] We have views on these murals [0:56] of the island of Zakynthos in Greece. [0:59] We wanted that to be kind of a nice visual for people [1:02] of where the food was originally inspired in Greece, [1:05] and what the scenery is like there. [1:07] We have a patio emulated in a way after a lot of areas [1:12] in Greece where you would go, [1:13] and there'd be a community central square [1:15] and usually there's a tree in the middle. [1:17] And we would like that tree to grow faster, [1:19] but it's gonna take a while. [1:21] As we're walking through, [1:22] you can see we're behind the main service counter. [1:25] This is where all the action happens. [1:27] Doing our chicken for the day. [1:29] Greek food is delicious [1:30] because it focuses on the freshness of the food, [1:33] and that's my main motivation is to keep the food fresh [1:37] and use quality ingredients. [1:39] Eventually we'll be using this window [1:42] for our online order pickup. [1:44] When you come around with your car, you just say your name, [1:47] and we hand you a bag, and it couldn't be any easier. [1:50] It's been great to get back to what we know. [1:52] Working with our team here together in a nice new kitchen, [1:56] and serving customers that have been waiting so patiently [1:59] to come back and enjoy our food. [2:00] I'm just really thankful for my family and friends [2:03] for supporting me in this. [2:05] We're excited to see what else comes about [2:08] in this commercial node.
