- How cool is this? We are at the BloomingtonIce Garden, getting ready to cut the ribbon after the$37 million renovation on this fantastic 55-year-old landmark here in the city of Bloomington. 3, 2, 1, cut. (Cheers) Bloomington Ice Garden opened in 1970 and there were a few renovations and improvements over theyears, but nothing really major and substantial until now. At 55 years old, it reallyneeded an overhaul in terms of its roof, the coolingsystem, locker rooms, ADA accessibility, so manydifferent pieces of it. And now we have a state of the art, almost brand new facilitythat's just gonna be fantastic for our figure skaters, our hockey players, and our recreationalskaters Here in Bloomington, - We are excited to complete and open the first of ourBloomington Forward projects. Big began its renovationless than a year ago, which is when you go inside and you see everything that's been done, it's pretty amazing. - I think the significance of the Bloomington Ice GardenModernization Project is just the customer experience. Most of the renovations weregeared towards functionality for the people who are using the building. So whether they're in aclub, an association, part of the school teams, wereally wanted the function of the building to beupgraded in order for them to just have a better experienceas a whole, including lifts to the second floor, which willbe huge for that ADA access. So that way people can comehere, feel welcomed, have access to every part of each of the rinks. - It's exciting. It'sbeen a long time coming. There's a lot of familiesthat play hockey in this city and then, you know, you gotfigure skating as well and, and all the other things. It's really fun to see likehow nice this place is, and it puts us on par with a lot of the other arenas in the state. - The Ice Garden is such a center of our community here in Bloomington, a real heart of our community. You know, the, the historyhere, going back all the way to the Miracle on Ice Teampracticing here, you know, in the, in the seventies and eighties now know thatthe Ice Garden is continuing to serve families so well intothe future for so many years. It's just really, really exciting. - So really it's justinviting that next generation, providing access, providingpositive experiences.
