Hello Bloomington public schools community. I'm school board chair Matt Demick and I'm superintendent Eric Melby and we'd like to share some highlights from our December 8th business meeting. The school board recognized current treasurer and board member Beth BBE last night for her eight years of service. Beth's term will end at the end of December and we wish her the best as she enters retirement from schoolboard life. We uh honored her with a bell and with stories of her eight years of experience and we're just wishing her the best. >> That was a nice evening. Thank you, Beth. The board also approved several 2025 through 2027 employee group contracts, including community education, independent hourly and salaried employees, Bloomington Food Service Association, Independent Employees, and the Bloomington Principles Association. Finalizing bargaining unit contracts is a necessary early step in the district budgeting process, which is now underway for the 2026 2027 school year. December 8th through the 14th marks computer science education week here in Bloomington and Superintendent Melbby and I had the chance to join Mayor Tim Busy over at Popular Bridge on Monday to kick off the festivities. Uh we had a proclamation shared from the mayor. The third graders walked us through their phases of the moon activity with little Ozobots and it was a really fun way to just celebrate all the great computer science programming that's happening here in the district. >> Yeah, it was great. As a reminder, there is no school board meeting December 22nd will be on winter break. Our next meeting will be the school board organizational meeting on Monday, January 5th. >> That's all for our December update and we're wishing you all a happy holidays. We'll see you next year.
