[0:09] My name is Aaron Paul. [0:10] I'm with the Bloomington [0:11] Police Department, and I've been employed since April of 1995. [0:15] I'm David Melin. I’ve been with the city of Bloomington since January 1995. [0:19] Scott Anderson, Utilities Superintendent, and I've been here for 30 years. [0:24] My name is Steve Jorschumb. [0:26] I am the City Land Surveyor. [0:28] I have been with the city for 30 years. [0:30] My day starts with working with my guys, my crews. [0:33] We have lots of projects going on. [0:36] At this time, we're kind of in the transition between [0:38] staking for road projects, [0:41] staking curb and gutter, staking sanitary water mains and stuff like that. [0:45] Been a variety of different roles. [0:46] As a patrol officer, I was part of our crime tech program. [0:49] I was an investigator and a school resource officer at Jefferson. [0:52] Now I'm in charge of the Bloomington Police Explorers program, [0:54] Now I'm in charge of the Bloomington Police Explorers program, [0:56] as well as the crisis negotiators. [0:59] I grew up here. My parents still live here in town. [1:01] I was a dispatcher for the city for 27 years, full time. [1:05] So from January of ‘95 through January of 2022. [1:10] Good morning, City of Bloomington Maintenance. Can I help you? [1:12] My current title, Office Support Specialist. [1:14] So for Public Works and then the Maintenance Department. [1:17] We support office support for Facilities Maintenance, [1:21] for Park Maintenance, for Street Maintenance, for Traffic Maintenance, [1:26] and then for our capital improvement projects. [1:29] It seems like it's a lot of meetings, but [1:31] really kind of focusing on budgeting, [1:34] our capital improvement program, [1:37] working with our team and helping [1:39] to guide our asset management and asset renewal program for infrastructure. [1:44] Working with other departments in the city like Community Development [1:47] on planning sewer improvements, predominantly, and making sure [1:51] that we have the infrastructure in place to serve redevelopment as it comes [1:55] through town. [1:56] In my two years in Utilities, 28 years [1:59] in Engineering... in Engineering, I went from survey crew, [2:02] I was an inspector for a couple of years, so I've been to a lot of different parts [2:06] of Engineering and jobs as I've come through, and it's [2:10] always been the people that I work with is what keeps you here. [2:13] It's just been the constant challenges [2:16] and opportunities to grow and do different things. [2:20] The City has always been a rewarding place to work and, [2:24] you know, surrounded by really talented people in all of the other departments [2:28] and divisions. It's an extremely professional organization. [2:32] In Bloomington, here, we have so many opportunities. [2:34] I'm very fortunate, when I started here, to have a chief [2:38] that really backed his officers and really put officers first [2:42] and really worked hard to get resources for us to do that job. [2:47] I'm very happy to say I'm retiring under the same type of thing. [2:50] Chief Hodges is fantastic. [2:53] Sorry chief, but he's great. [2:55] He's always put his cops first. [2:57] He supports innovation and really moving forward, [3:01] officer wellness is huge now. [3:02] The city is a unbelievable place to work for. [3:06] The staff that we work with are fantastic. [3:09] All the police officers I've dealt with over the years, [3:12] all the dispatchers I worked with. [3:13] Now that I'm over here in Public Works, I find the same thing. [3:16] We're all goal driven. [3:17] We're all trying to make the best for not only ourselves, [3:21] but for the residents and the visitors, for the city as well.
