[0:08] - [Speaker] Each member volunteers their time [0:10] and is a Bloomington resident. [0:12] Members are appointed by the city council. [0:14] - I have really enjoyed interactions with the community. [0:17] So whether it is tabling at farmer's markets, [0:20] or other city and cultural events, [0:22] those are really great experiences in talking to folks. [0:24] - [Speaker] Advisory to the city council, [0:26] and the city council [0:27] has the final decision-making authority. [0:29] - I would say if you're just curious [0:31] and you're not quite sure if you want to yet, [0:33] there are public meetings, [0:34] it's always a good idea to go to one and attend, [0:36] and just see how that process goes. [0:38] And if you notice yourself thinking [0:40] that you could provide some helpful input, [0:43] I think that would be a good reason to apply. [0:44] - [Anita] People want to use their time wisely. [0:47] Volunteers who give their time to the city of Bloomington [0:50] really wanna make sure that they're doing it in a way [0:52] that's meaningful and that adds value to their life, [0:55] and to the lives of people around them. [0:57] So being on a commission that is active [0:59] and engaged in the community [1:01] and wants to help improve the lives of folks [1:03] in the community gives you a really deep sense of progress.
