Bloomington's water system earned statewide recognition from the American Waterworks Association at their annual conference in Duluth. This marks the third time the city has received the honor for water quality. The achievement is significant enough that Bloomington will now compete against international water systems in a competition scheduled for June 2025 in Denver.

The council also announced Sarah Abe as the new Housing and Redevelopment Authority administrator, effective September 16. Abe brings extensive experience in housing and economic development, including a prior role as senior project manager for the City of Brooklyn Park. She holds dual master's degrees from the University of Minnesota and is noted for her commitment to building equitable communities.

With the November election approaching, the council provided residents with voting information. Early and absentee voting runs from September 25 through November 5, with in-person voting available at Civic Plaza. Residents can check their ballots at mnvotes.org or request mail-in ballots through hen.us/election, which is administered by Hennepin County.

The council also implemented updated speed limits following public input and previous approval. Local and neighborhood roads now have a 25 mph speed limit, while larger roadways have variable limits ranging from 25 to 35 mph. A detailed map of the new limits is available to residents online.

Looking ahead, the council announced a celebration for a new Community Health and Wellness Center on Saturday, September 28, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Creekside Community Center. The event will feature games, live music, food trucks, and information about the center's programs. Free flu shots will be available from Bloomington Public Health's Mobile Health Hub.
