Bloomington seeks input on creek project and snow removal
The Bloomington City Council announced plans to gather public feedback on two major initiatives during a March 26 community event at Civic Plaza: a renewal project for the 9mm Creek corridor and proposed changes to how the city removes snow from sidewalks.
The city is inviting residents to weigh in on the 9mm Creek corridor renewal project, which will reshape a key area in Bloomington. At the March 26 event, community members can review schematic designs, speak directly with project leaders, and share their thoughts. Alongside the creek project, Bloomington is also seeking input on adjustments to its sidewalk snow removal process. The city wants to improve conditions for pedestrians and better coordinate sidewalk clearing with its faster street and cul-de-sac plowing operations. Like the creek project, residents can provide feedback either at the Civic Plaza event or online.
In other news, the Bloomington Ice Garden is undergoing a major modernization as part of the "Bloomington Forward" initiative. The facility will remain closed through the fall while crews complete extensive upgrades including mechanical and roof work, converting one rink to NHL regulation size, and adding an indoor training area. The project also includes improvements to ticketing systems, security, ADA accessibility, locker rooms, restrooms, and concessions. During the renovation, skate school programs have been temporarily moved to the Richfield Ice Arena.
