Bryant Park is undergoing a significant transformation that will make it the first location in Bloomington to feature a fully inclusive playground designed for children of all abilities. The renovation, which broke ground on August 21, will also add a skate park, new courts, a shelter, and improved pathways throughout the park at 1,000 West 90th Street. The city expects the project to be completed by fall 2025, with a focus on accessibility and sustainability.

The city is also preparing to celebrate the opening of a new Community Health and Wellness Center on September 28 at Creekside Park. The event will feature games, music, food trucks, and health information booths. Bloomington Public Health will operate a Mobile Health Hub at the celebration offering free flu shots to residents.

In other community news, the Bloomington Police Department's "Cookout with the Cops" event at Moyer Park on August 21 drew more than 500 families. The event, supported by local nonprofits, included food, games, raffles, and toy giveaways aimed at strengthening relationships between police and residents.

Bloomington is also hosting an international leadership program this month. Sixteen students from Ukraine are participating in the Youth Leadership Exchange and Development (YLED) program, now in its third year. The month-long program, partnered with the Global Synergy Group, aims to teach young Ukrainians leadership skills they can apply to post-war redevelopment efforts back home by exposing them to how local government operates.
